24.01.2022 An early bottling of Spring Honey from a clean up. Train them young I say.

21.01.2022 An excellent explanation as to why honey candies (crystallises).

21.01.2022 A nice easy swarm at Glenmore Park. Bill's 1st colony.

21.01.2022 Some interesting facts about honey

19.01.2022 It appears I may have fallen for the silly mistake of believing everything you see on Facebook. Earlier today I posted a video claiming that all seeds sold in Australia were coated with neonicotinoids. A friend (thanks Dave) contacted a major seed supplier to the retail market who claimed the pink material on the seeds was a fungicide, not an insecticide. I have withdrawn the post and will research this further.
18.01.2022 How a bee develops from egg to hatching. Amazing.
18.01.2022 This looks interesting

14.01.2022 Australia has over 1800 species of bee. Here are some of them.
14.01.2022 Our honey is a lot fresher than this.
11.01.2022 We cold spin all our honey. No heating. No filtering. Just pure, raw local honey.
09.01.2022 It is now the time of year that some bee colonies will swarm. Swarms can be from managed hives in peoples yards or wild hives in tree hollows and peoples roofs and walls. This is natures way of expanding the colony. If you see a swarm DONT PANIC! Dont spray them with insecticide. Bees swarming are very calm and are just looking for a new home. Call us (0410 581 143) to save them and relocate them to a new home Winmalee Apiary
09.01.2022 I might just give this a try.
08.01.2022 Just to brighten your day.
08.01.2022 Want to give your wraps that little extra love? Its important to follow a few easy steps to get the best lifespan from your food wraps. Heres how:... Wash in cold water with a non alcohol detergent. (If alcohol is in the top 5 ingredients or no ingredients are listed we suggest getting a different detergent) Use your hand or dish cloth to gently remove any dried food. Allow to dry completely before using (draped over your dish rack we find the easiest). Store in a cool, dry place away from direct heat. Things NOT to do: Dont put in the microwave. Dont place over hot food. Allow food to cool before covering. Dont wash in the washing machine or dishwasher. Dont wash in warm or hot water. Dont store near any heat source. Dont dry in direct sunlight. Bring back the shine and stickiness: Lay your wrap on some baking paper and gently warm with a hairdryer. Heating the wrap until you start to see the shine, not for too long as the wax will begin to run. Our wraps are handmade with care and therefore need a little TLC to last, with our main aim being to reduce our waste we want each food wrap to last for as long as possible For more info on our Beeswax Food Wraps send us a DM or check out our website. . . . . . #bethechange #bees #instadaily #beeswaxwraps #beeswaxwrapsaus #beeswaxwrapsaustralia #ecofriendlyproducts #plasticalternatives #plasticfree #shopsmall #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmall #australianmade #australianowned #honey #instagood #instafood #washyourhands #food #ecofriendly #compost #earthfocus #nature #love #care
07.01.2022 Spring is coming. One of the girls working what I call Egg and Bacon (Bossiaea Rhombifolia (thanks Liz)) at Hawkesbury Heights. Not a great nectar producer but a good source of pollen for food.
07.01.2022 Coming soon is our 2020 Spring Wildflower honey. This honey was made by the bees from nectar collected from Egg and Bacon flower, Spider flower as well as many others which bloomed in late August and September. We are looking forward to bottling this special unique honey. This photo is of one of the girls collecting nectar. Note the pollen on the right hand side of her body.
06.01.2022 Wise words. Thanks Black Sheep Apiaries
05.01.2022 Please dont leave honey, especially supermarket honey or cheap honey from markets, out for birds to feed on. American Foul Brood is a devastating disease. The hives must be destroyed if it is detected. Buy only from your local beekeeper who can verify its purity.
05.01.2022 The girls have moved to their sunny winter home. The apiary at Winmalee is very shaded in winter by conifers on the neighbours boundary. They will like this sunny location.

04.01.2022 Winter is coming and the freezing weather can really wear you down. If you require an extra boost so you can accomplish your tasks for the day, a dollop of this... golden liquid is all you need. Honey is recognized as a natural power-filled snack because it is rich in carbohydrates that gives the body an immediate and sustained energy boost. If youre feeling a little sluggish in the afternoon, try adding half a tablespoon of organic honey with a glass of water and a dash of cinnamon powder to increase your energy. 03.01.2022 Nice to see in mid winter. Madamoisell Bee is in South Australia.
01.01.2022 Did you know that honey is great for insomniacs. Just take a teaspoon at bedtime - the sugars in honey stimulate serotonin production, which induces relaxation. Youll soon nod off into a natural, restful sleep. For more great ideas on how honey keeps us healthy: https://www.thesenior.com.au//the-sweet-natural-magic-of-/
01.01.2022 A timely reminder as many hives are transported to the almonds of the real cost of your Almond Water.
01.01.2022 Some potentially good news. Though my mother believed this completely.
01.01.2022 For any concerned about the quality of Australian Honey, the 2019 test results are in. https://www.agriculture.gov.au///files/documents/honey.pdf
