21.01.2022 2020 Grand Final - Fremantle Conference Year 10's Blue Division Winnacott v Canning Vale The Winnacott Kats Year 10's met Canning Vale in the Grand Final on Sunday 27th September 12pm @ Santich Park. Winnacott got off to a good start in the first quarter to lead by 14 points (Winnacott 3.2 Canning Vale 1.0).... In the second half Winnacott continued to dominate the game and maintain possession and at the main break the boys lead by 40 points (Winnacott 8.5 Canning Vale 2.1). Canning Vale are very talented and the Kats knew that we had to keep pressing and by 3 quarter time had opened the game up lead to by 60 points (Winnacott 11.8 Canning Vale 2.2). Going into the final quarter Winnacott continued to play team football by sharing the ball around and went on to win the Grand Final by 72 points (Winnacott 13.14 Canning Vale 3.2). Well done to Canning Vale for never giving up. Credit to the Winnacott boys going through the season undefeated in a very tough competition. Best players : The whole team as there was not one passenger on the day a real TEAM EFFORT. Congratulations to James Arthurson on winning best on field as adjudicated by the umpires and to Chadd Dunscombe on winning the Winnacott Kats Kane Lucas Medal.

19.01.2022 Kats Round 9 Review - Saturday 12th September Year 7 Panthers v Rossmoyne... This week the Panthers played Rossmoyne at Winnacott Rossmoyne made a valiant effort, but our boys were too strong and the Panthers recorded a big win. Next week we play fourth on the ladder Melville and this will be a more evenly matched game. Sunday 13th September Year 3 Jaguars v Piara Waters The Year 3 Jaguars played the Piara Waters Pirates on Sunday at 8.30 am in very sunny conditions. There were so many outstanding performances from all team members that it was difficult for Coach Loz to pull out a best on ground!! What a great situation to be in at the near end of our season. The team has really grown and matured, they have improved so much, it’s nice to see them flourish. Resounding win on Sunday, and they sang the Kats song with gusto! Best on ground were Nicholas and Zain. Sunday 13th September - Year 10 v Armadale In their last home game of the season, the Kats Year 3 Panthers formed a guard of honour as the the Year 10’s charged onto to field. Last time the Kats played Armadale the weather was horrid, wet, cold and with torrential rain. Conditions today were the complete opposite, sunny sky’s and the temperature very warm and more like summer. The Kats once again kept the opposition scoreless for the quarter, but also got off to a slow start, kicking 1 goal 7. The pace picked up in the second quarter with the Kats adding 5 goals 4 to the scoreboard. Armadale added their first score to the board with one goal. Inaccurate kicking from the Kats continued into the 3rd quarter with twice as many points as goals kicked. Armadale added another goal to their tally. The Kats 4th quarter saw the boys finish the game strongly kicking another 4 goals 3. The final score Kats 14.20-104 to Armadale 3.1-19. Goal scorers Tomas W (3), Riley (2), Oscar (2), and one goal each to Callan, Diego, Thomas L, Chadd, Beau and Daniel. Congratulations to Callan and Thomas L on kicking a goal each in their 100th game of Junior Football. Great effort boys.

17.01.2022 Round 7 Team of the Week - Year 4 Jaguars The Year 4 Jaguars played Canning Vale Teal on a cold and wet Sunday morning. Having played them last year we were aware that we were going to be under pressure in our back line and after a few quick goals kicked by Canning Vale the Jaguars lifted their intensity around the ball and managed to be competitive for most of the game. ... The boys are beginning to understand the structure required to transition the ball out of defence and to create a scoring opportunity. Whilst we need to work on getting all of our players to engage the contest more and support the player with the ball, each player is continuing to improve every week. A couple of highlights from the game were Ryal taking on two defenders in a lone effort up forward which resulted in a surprise snap goal 20m out. Oliver ripping the ball from a stoppage in the right forward pocket and in an Eddie Betts type of play, ran towards the boundary, pivots and deliberately checksides a goal from an almost impossible position. Matt, Harry and Alex who worked hard through every contest for four quarters and lastly, Jasper who was awesome all game. It was great seeing how excited the team gets before the game and this same excitement was present at the end of the game when they could dry off and get out of the cold. Everyone involved with this team is very proud of the effort the boys put in at training and for the games. Well done Jaguars!! Personal best goes to.............. Jasper. For a massive 4 quarter effort in trying conditions. Showed courage and composure when required and looked after his team mates.

16.01.2022 2020 Grand Final - Fremantle Conference Year 11/12's Blue Division Winnacott v Jandakot Arriving at the ground the boys were excited and nervous. The key to a GF is to get an early jump on the opposition and be the first to settle and steady....Continue reading

11.01.2022 Round 9 featured the Kat's Auskick teams as teams of the week. Year 1 With 21 Year 1's some days are hectic, but they are learning and progressing very fast, it's great to watch!... The team's favourite part of the day is putting into practice the skills they learn in drills into a game. As well as a bit of Dodge ball, which I think parents love to be able to throw balls at their kids for fun... Even though it's a short season it has been a very eventful one. I think loved by most. Year 1 superstars looking forward to 2021

03.01.2022 Kats Round 10 Review - Sunday 20th September Year 5 v Bull Creek Leeming... The weather that threatened didn't turn out to be too bad in Sunday's game for the Year 5 team against Bull Creek Leeming. This week the boys were focusing on putting in second, third and fourth efforts in attacking the ball and with multiple scorers they may actually have been listening to the coaching! It was great to see Jake English back after missing most of the season with an injured hand - his return was so impressive he was player of the day. Year 5/6 Girls v Palmyra The Winnacott Girls 5/6 team played at home against Palmyra Demons on Sunday. Both sides worked hard in wet, cold and windy conditions. Player of the day was Abbey Sayers, who kicked three goals in short succession in the second quarter. Palmyra won by 7 points. Year 7/8 Girls v Palmyra Last game of the season was against Palmyra, played in true winter conditions. We won the toss and kicked into a reasonable breeze and managed to kick a couple of goals and set us up for the wind in second quarter. Palmyra were able to hold us in the second quarter and the game was set up for a great second half . Third term saw Palmyra with their nose out in front and they were able to hold us off to take out the win . The final siren saw the end of another season for the girls and they have improved greatly from their first game to the last and were unlucky not to snatch a couple more wins over the year . Thanks to Emma for managing again this year, and to Amanda for running the IPad. Also to all helpers through the year . Year 10 v Jandakot The last round of the home and away season saw the Year 10 Kats take on the Jandakot Jets at Atwell Reserve. The Kats knew this would be a tough game, with their opponents looking for a win to secure them a place in the 1 v 2 Grand Final next weekend. Strong winds, rain and wet stodgy turf made it difficult for either team to have much of an impact on the score board in the first quarter. Jandakot 2.0 12 to Winnacott 1.1 7. In the second quarter the Kats moved the ball forward and kicked 4.1 to Jandakots 2 goals. The third quarter was low scoring for both sides and scores leading into the final term were Jandakot 5.1 31 to Winnacott 6.2 38. This game was proving to be a real arm wrestle. Jandakot wanted that second place on the ladder and threw everything they had at the Kats in the fourth quarter. The intensity of the game for the last 18 minutes of play certainly lifted, with both teams trying to shut down any scoring attempts the opposition made. The tackling was fierce. When the final siren sounded the scoreboard read Jandakot 7.2 44 to Kats 8.4 52. The Kats hung on for the win. Well done to Riley who kicked 2 goals in his 100th game of footy. Congratulations also to Aiden on also celebrating his 100th game. Well done boys. Goal scorers Riley (2) and one goal each to Beau, James, Tomas W, Oscar, Ben and Taj.

02.01.2022 The Kats Round 7 Team of the Week is the Year 8 team. Year 8 v Jandakot Saturday 29th August Going into Saturday's home game the Year 8 Kats were sitting 3rd on the ladder with 3 wins....Continue reading
