10.01.2022 CAN YOU HELP? In April 2020, the New South Wales Attorney-General Mark Speakman reported that Google searches on domestic violence are up by 75 per cent since the first recorded COVID-19 cases in the state. While the global COVID-19 crisis is unprecedented, it has left many victims of domestic and family abuse locked inside their homes with their abuser, with no way to escape. The mobile phone is something that many of us take for granted, but it can be a lifesaver for vic...tims of domestic violence. DV Safe Phone will ensure your old mobile phone is erased, tested and distributed to someone in need. So get digging through your drawers and cupboards and you might just save a life! #domesticviolence *info copied from https://dvsafephone.com.au

05.01.2022 A letter to my babies - shared with @thegracetales over on their website

05.01.2022 The sand between our toes, clean air, the sound of ocean waves crashing, the shade of big old trees - the landscapes of lifelong memories. This is truer now than ever. This year has seen mudslides in Brazil, a locust infestation in Pakistan, earthquakes in Turkey and Brazil and on home soil devastating bushfires, floods and a continued drought. Our Earth is hurting, and the trajectory isn’t one we should be proud of. ... Coronavirus has a lot of negatives. Death. Illness. Economic collapse. Impending recession. But imagine if all of this could be negated with new innovative thinking, busy minds shocked out of the rat race and recalibrated during this slower time. The Earth’s burden reimagined. We didn’t get much downtime after the fires, ash basically settled and the world caught a virus. Could this moment of pause be the Earth’s opportunity to breathe again? Regeneration in its purest form. You only have to look at the imagery of the Himalayas from India, satellite footage of China, or the canals of Venice, to see how us as a people taking a step back, slowing down, and prioritising health (in more ways than one) is paying dividends to the wellbeing of our environment. We are now being told to consider our impact on the collective. Let’s hope this has a flow in effect into our decisions and lifestyle choices on the other side. I hope when all is said and done, we leave behind an Earth that we’re proud of. #earthday

04.01.2022 If I had a dollar for the amount of times I’ve been asked or heard people asking if baby hiccups are normal, or okay.... They are! Just as a baby hiccups on the inside, will hiccup on the outside. Sometimes not. I’ve had a hiccupy baby and a not so hiccupy baby. They’re all different. And this is perfectly safe and normal.

04.01.2022 A physically (but not socially) distant welcome for this little newbie, Lucas

01.01.2022 Like most midwives, I’d spent years thinking about my own birth...on one hand I was scared and felt really out of control... on the other hand it had all the elements of a birth I wanted. #birthstory #caesarean #variationsofnormal
