24.01.2022 Our guests at the Outback Motel know how clean we keep everything but this is to assure all our guests we are doing extra cleaning on all surfaces to ensure the safety of all our guests and our washer person - Ray - doing an extra outstanding job of keeping everything up to scratch. We know that at the moment that not many people can travel (believe me our bookings reflect this) but if you have any friends neighbours family that do need to come out this way we are still open for business and would love to have them stay with us. In the meantime unless you have to travel stay at home, stay safe and we'll see you when all of this is over. Cheers, Ray and Jan

20.01.2022 A big shout out and thank you to our regular guests who are still working and have to travel and are still staying with us. Even though we are not up to anywhere near normal capacity for this time of year your support is helping so much. As those who have been through already have found out, to save costs we have had to close most of our rooms, turn off most things electrical and suspended our foxtel for a while. For this reason if you know you are going to be staying with us please book so we can make everything comfortable for you ahead of time. Thank you once again for all your support.

20.01.2022 Isn’t it amazing that flooding gets me to write something on Facebook. Will put some photos of our new rooms on soon. Hope everyone in Townsville knows we are all thinking of them and now our river is wet and rising. The council just carry on doing the hedge trimming with the water rising. They had already been around with sandbags, and all the truckies stuck by cut roads had to move their rigs to higher ground as the bypass road is now underwater.

20.01.2022 The water is coming up in Winton. It is across the road from the Motel and expected to come higher. Started putting things up.

19.01.2022 Pick the room that doesn’t have riders who are taking part in the long ride. Hint - the one with a car parked in front. We are pleased to welcome those from the Long Ride who are raising finds for prostrate cancer and having a good time on their way to Darwin.

18.01.2022 The start of a big night. Helicopter landing on our back paddock heralding the arrival of the cars of the B to B Variety Bash. Then to find that John Williamson and his lovely wife are bashers as well has made it a good day.

17.01.2022 Wow what a weekend for Winton. The opening of our Waltzing Matilda Centre today was awesome. We will go through it next week to give our visitors a chance to see it.

17.01.2022 About time I put some photos up of the new rooms we are getting. The big task now is ordering all the stuff for inside and co-ordinating so it arrives at the right time.

14.01.2022 We were also lucky enough to have Adam Harvey to stay with us as well so he could sing Waltzing Matilda on the Today show. After a quick trip to Alaska he will be doing an Australian tour with Beccy Cole for his Country Songbook Album.

14.01.2022 Because the organisers of the Wintons Way Out West Fest have not taken the rooms booked over the festival we now have some dates available during the festival and before and after. The dates available are Tuesday 17th April, Wednesday 18th April, Thursday 19th April, Saturday 21st April and Sunday 22nd April. Some nights have only a couple of rooms and others have more. As you can see there is nothing available on the Friday so I cannot book anyone in for the whole festival. Our phone number is 0746571422. I have tried to get in touch with the people on out waiting list. There are no family rooms available.

13.01.2022 For those that have checked in this week will already know that Ray and I are on holidays about to have brekky in Townsville and fly to Melbourne tonight. We have Toni and Brenda doing a great job looking after our guests. Please look after them.

12.01.2022 Our brolgas, George and Mildred, are back and brought their latest addition to their family. Anyone want to name the yong one - at the left while feeding.

11.01.2022 As most of our friends and guests know we have reached retirement age and are looking forward to getting some use of our caravan before we drop off the perch. We now have our motel lease up for sale. It is a long lease (over 35 years) and earning just over 42% return on investment. The occupancy rate over 12 months is 75% . Our landlord is terrific. Winton is a great little town to live in with absolutely friendly people and excellent medical facilities - we will be sad t...o leave. It is the safest town we have ever lived in and is on the brink of an even bigger tourism boom.
