07.01.2022 Road Safety Week is an opportunity to highlight the devastating impact motor vehicle collisions have on our loved ones and our first responders. CFA responded t...o a total of 4,350 motor vehicle collisions last year and during the warmer months we saw an increase on the monthly average. We know Victorians are making plans to get back on the road this weekend and over summer. We are asking you to make sure every journey you make is a safe one.

06.01.2022 Today is #InternationalFriendshipDay and we're celebrating how friendships strengthen our ability to stay connected and support one another - before, during and... after an emergency. Our friends often look out for us and for many of our volunteers, through CFA they have formed incredible, lifelong friendships which support the many roles they take on in our communities. Make sure you let your friends know today how much they mean to you.

06.01.2022 Whether you're travelling or spending time at home - be fire ready. Always remember to check fire danger ratings And when an Extreme or Code Red day is declared, avoid areas like dense bush and thick grass for the day #PlanActSurvive

05.01.2022 Winter - the forgotten fire season There are a number of ways people can prepare for winter: Turn off all heating and extinguish open fires before go...ing out or going to bed. Ensure heaters are installed, maintained and operated according to manufacturers’ instructions. Keep clothing, curtains or toys one metre away from heaters. Always use a fire screen in front of an open fire. Chimneys and flues should be cleaned annually. Children must be supervised near all types of heating.

04.01.2022 Fire season is nearly here with a lot of growth this year good time to start cleaning your blocks and make sure the fire trucks get in

04.01.2022 Have you discussed with your family what you would do if there was a fire in your home? Make sure you have a well-prepared and practiced home fire escape plan. Households who plan ahead have a better chance of a safe escape without panic. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/escape-plans

03.01.2022 Now that winter has really set in, make sure the fans and lights in your bathroom are safe. Doing so can avoid a serious fire hazard. #cfa #cfavic #fire #firehazard #bathroom #heatlights #prevention

02.01.2022 Everyone in Victoria who lives near dense forest, bush, grassland or the coast needs to prepare their property for bushfire. Below are some tips from Captain Ko...ala on preparing your property: Roof gutters - Keep gutters and roof areas clear of leaf litter. Leaf litter in guttering is a ember ignition point. Keep grass short - Keep grass cut to less than 10cm. Fire can ignite and travel quickly through long grass. Mowing and slashing can greatly reduce fine fuel levels. Leaves and Twigs - Get rid of dry grass, leaves, twigs and loose bark. Less fuel = less fire. Prune shrubs -Prune lower branches of shrubs to separate from surface fuels underneath. Prune shrubs well away from branches of mature trees. Cut back branches - Cut back overhanging tree branches close to property no branches in 10m space. For more information on preparing your property please see here: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare #CKDoesSummerPreparation #LessFuelEqualsLessFire #PlanAndPrepare #CleanUpBeforeABushfireDoes

02.01.2022 Lest We Forget.

02.01.2022 CFA volunteers take on many roles. Our diversity, skills and experience are our strength. We are from the community and for the community. We are CFA.

01.01.2022 Did you know you can't smell smoke when you're asleep? All smoke alarms in your home should be interconnected - this means that no matter where a fire starts - all alarms will sound.

01.01.2022 URGENT NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS A number of our volunteer brigades across the district are receiving an increased number of call-outs to unregistered burn-offs ...reported as fires. This is not only dragging our volunteers away from their family but also unnecessarily putting our volunteers at risk of Covid-19 (Corona Virus). PLEASE!! we ask you to just register your burn off, make sure you stay with your burn off while it is alight and always have water close by. We are not asking too much to just keep our volunteers safe.
