25.01.2022 The second semi-final in the 8 goal A Grade competition was another hard fought affair between Scone and Branch Creek. Strong defence from Branch Creek and the odd accidental pony block saw Scone held scoreless until the final chukka when they made a galant effort to catch their opponents but the damage had been done in the earlier chukkas and Branch Creek won the encounter by 5 goals to 3 goals and they will meet Ellerston in what should be a very exciting and fast A Grade Final
23.01.2022 ATT PLAYERS: Here’s the Draw for the weekend! Please all players ensure you turn up for your duties or make other arrangements and don’t forget to pay your chukka fee’s! Thank you See you all tomo!
22.01.2022 It was a wonderful Team effort that saw every Player score at least one goal on their way to victory when Gunnedah made up of Ben Osborne, Mark Barber, Ed Thurwill and Earl Herbert beat the home team Wirragulla B comprising Duncan Dew, Treen Murphy, James Lester and Jack Mantova in the B Grade Final. A strong defensive effort kept Wirragulla B scoreless in the first and fourth chukkas whilst the visitors added goals in each chukka with a three goal third chukka really pushing them to an unassailable lead. Ed Thirwall was awarded the Champion Playing Pony for his grey mare named 'Wii' and James Lester was awarded Best Pony Team for 'Optic', 'Centric' and 'Stitch'. 22.01.2022 We all smile when there's a legend in the lens. Well played Mark Barber.
19.01.2022 It's been a very successful season so far for Glen Gilmore (6 goals) and his young Forbes Team made up of Aroha Jackson (-1 goal) Hector Macintyre (-2 goals) and Holly Gavin (-2 goals) and today, in the C Grade Final they added another piece of silverware to their growing collection when they were victors over the Tamarang side comprising Corin Gibbs (3 goals) Serena Osborne (-1 goal), Jimbo Henry (1 goal) and Colin Campbell (-1 goal) in a very exciting match. This Grade was ...played over 2 four chukka rounds with Tamarang leading after the first four chukka by 5 goals to 4.5 goals. This was always going to be a tight tussle and we weren't let down. The quality of play was outstanding and at the end of the first two chukkas scores were tied. Captain Gilmore slotted home 2 goals in the third chukka to give Forbes the lead but it was quickly bought back to level with a Jimbo Henry goal early in the fourth chukka. Lots of pressure in every play but Hector Macintyre completed a great Team play to score the winning goal with Forbes winning by 8.5 goals to 7 at the end of a very absorbing match. The Panzer Trophy for Champion C Grade Pony was won by Glen Gilmore's mare 'Valentina'. Photos and words Stephen Mowbray Photography See more
16.01.2022 We started Sunday Finals day with the B Grade subsidiary Final which was played between Tamarang A made up of Corin Gibbs (3 goals) Jimbo Henry (1 goal) Scott Chambers (0 goal) and Amber Gibbs (0 goal) and their opponents Quirindi comprising Alec White (5 goals) Rob Davies (1 goal) Scott McCreery (1 goal) and Jack Dividson (-2 goals). It was a tough, low scoring match and was all tied up at the end of the third quarter but a finishing flurry from the Tamarang side with 2 goals to Jimbo Henry and one to Amber Gibbs saw the Tamarang side emerge vistors by 5.5 goals to 2 goals Photos and words Stephen Mowbray Photography
12.01.2022 The first 8 goal A grade semi-final was a low scoring and hard fought encounter between the Home Team, Wirragulla A led by Jock Mackay up against the Team from Ellerston very ably led by tournament high goal player and Captain, Glen Gilmore. Both Teams started with two goals in the opening chukka but then some really solid defence saw the home Team held scoreless for the next three chukkas whilst Ellerston scored two goals in the second chukka to take the lead.No goals from e...ither Team in the third and two more goals to Ellerston in the fourth saw them skip out to a 6-2 lead going into the final chukka. Wirragulla Captain Jock Mackay slotted two goals in the final chukka to lift the team within reach of their rivals but it wasn't quite enough to book a finals berth for Sunday. Ellerston, held scoreless in the final chukka, won the match 6-4 and will go into the final against the winner of the Branch Creek and Scone match to be played later today. See more
12.01.2022 As we move up the grades, it get's a little more skillful , a little faster and yes, just a little more competitive... but of course, that's not to suggest those who have played previously don't want to win... we're not here to clean out the stalls, right !!! It's the second semi-final in the B Grade competition, the very 'balanced' (handicap 5 goal) Gunnedah Team (Ben Osborne, Mark Barber, Ed Thurwill all on 1 goal and Earl Herbert on 2 goals) were up against the Tamarang A... Team (handicap 4 goals) made up of Captain, Corin Gibbs (3 goals) Jimbo Henry (1 goal) and Scott Chambers and Amber Gibbs (both '0' goals) in what was a most amazing match. It wasn't until the third Chukka that Gunnedah even scored goal !! Conversely, after being 4.5 goals ahead after the first two chukkas, Tamarang A were unable to score in the final two chukkas and were sequequently run down by a fast finishing Gunnedah Team ! Amazing Match, we can't wait for tomorrow's final.

10.01.2022 Play is underway at the 2020 Pryde's EasiFeed Hunter Polo Challenge and the first match was the C Grade competition that will now be played over two 4 chukka rounds between Tamarang B and Forbes after a late change to the timetable. The first 4 chukkas went to Tamarang by a margin of 5 goals to 4.5 goals (Forbes had a 1/2 goal start) so tomorrows concluding 4 chukka 'Final' looks like it will be another entertaining and very competítive match. Good luck to both Teams, thanks for a great Match today. Photos Stephen Mowbray Photography
04.01.2022 We have a winner ! The Committee and Members of the Wirragulla Polo Club would like to congratulate the 2020 Pryde's EasiFeed Hunter Polo Challenge A Grade Champion Team, Branch Creek, proudly Captained by 5 goal Kiwi superstar Guy Kirkpatrick and motivated and driven by Barry Moule, the 0 goaler who put together the Champion Team that also included the young and talented Max Neil (0 goals) and the evergreen Jasper White (3 goals). They were up against the might of Ellerston ...who have had a very successful season so far but today was not the day for Captain Glen Gilmore (6 goals), Augustine Ruiz (2 goals), Jeff Fisher (1 goal) and Gus Place (-1 goal). In a low scoring affair, with Branch Creek winning by a margin of 6 goals to 4 goals, it was the tight defensive effort that kept Ellerston scoreless in the second and fourth chukkas that paved the way for Branch Creek to take home the silverware. It was a very happy Barry Moule who held aloft the Pryde's EasiFeed Hunter Polo Challenge Trophy for 2020, thanking his Team and all our amazing sponsors for a wonderful weekend of Polo. Branch Creek's Captain Guy Kirkpatrick was awarded the JK MacKay Memorial Trophy for Best Playing Pony with 'Champ' and he also picked up the Best Team Of Ponies with 'Champ', 'Chalet' and 'Reward', then, to complete the trifecta, Kirky picked up the Most Valuable Player Award ... and as he said, it wasn't even his birthday !! Well played Kirky, well done Barry and Team Branch Creek and a big thank you to all the Players for a wonderful weekend of Polo. In a hotly contested category these days, the Champion Off The Track Pony prize was awarded to 'Daisy', owned and played (brilliantly) by Treen Murphy. Congratulations to all our winners. 01.01.2022 In the first semi-final of the B Grade competition, Wirragulla B (Handicap 3 goals) proved too strong for Quirindi (Handicap 5 goals) winnning the match by a margin of 10.5 goals to 4 goals. The Wirragulla home team saw Captain James Lester lead from the front with a 5 goal contribution but very ably backed up with two goals each to Treen Murphy and Jack Mantova with Duncan Dew assisting and also playing an outstanding match.
