23.01.2022 This would be an awesome mini-series for you or your students. I took a Milton webinar with them last month and loved it. #houseofhumaneletters

17.01.2022 Who knew that non-fiction could be such a page turner!? I struggled to put this down last night and then it wove it's way into my (very weird) dreams. I'm enjoying it so much I've bought his Great Courses lecture series with my latest Audible credit. Hopefully he speaks as well as he writes. . . . #theliterarylife #motherculture #scholeeveryday #alwayslearning

15.01.2022 A Fantastic Mr Fox Feast and movie night to celebrate the book. Mr 5 chose the feast menu - popcorn and pizza. We couldn't quite get him on board with the scrumptious feast from the book (chicken, ham, carrots), but he did allow apple cider. . . . #homeschool #homeeducation #homeschoolaustralia #aussiehomeschool #raisingreaders #kidswhoread #kidsbookstagram #readaloudrevival #celebratereading #celebratebooks

14.01.2022 Time for my first Shakespeare mini-class with Thomas Banks from House of Humane Letters. Cheap and I get to watch it live at a respectable time! (You can watch it later).

12.01.2022 Super excited with his op shop score! And at an absolute bargain price Guess he can take "big castle" off his Christmas list.

12.01.2022 New books! Mr 5 spent his birthday voucher on a lovely book of Russian Fairy Tales which arrived today. I also found this copy of The Aeneid at @targetaus ... but I'm not sure if it was supposed to be there It's not on their website, I've never seen Penguin books at Target, it wouldn't scan, and it had a plain white price sticker on the front (very un-Target-like). After reading The Iliad last month and, to my discouragement, discovering that the wooden horse is not in tha...t particular fragment of Trojan lore, I was advised to find a copy of Fagles' translation of The Aeneid. So no matter what this little guy was doing lost among Target's popular fiction, it was coming home with me. . . . #books #bookstagram #booksforkids #kidsbookstagram #livingbooks #homeschool #homeeducation #homeschoolaustralia #aussiehomeschool #theliterarylife #scholeeveryday #motherculture See more

10.01.2022 Mr 7's narration of Rapunzul (Recorded by me). I love that he added two little details that fit, oh so perfectly, into a Fairy Tale. Three visits to the garden (the story only had 2) and the thorny rose bushes (story only mentioned thorn). Yesterday were were talking about the Bible and how God makes himself known to us through a story and he said, "wouldn't it be cool if all stories were like that?" And then he realised, "they are!" . .... . #homeschool #homeeducation #homeschoolaustralia #aussiehomeschool #charlottemasonhomeschool #livingbooks #storieswillsavetheworld See more

09.01.2022 If you have read Our Island Story (or another English history) with your kids grab yourself a copy of this little gem (it's a few dollars on Kindle) and have a good laugh. 1066 and All That by Sellar and Yeatman. Hilarious. Lots of witty wordplay, literary in-jokes, and tongue-in-cheek value statements. Robert Louis Stevenson putting wheels on Isaak Watts' steam teapot "RICHARD II was only a boy at his accession: one day, however, suspecting that he was now twenty-one, he... asked his uncle and, on learning that he was, mounted the throne himself and tried first being a Good King and then being a Bad King, without enjoying either very much: then, being told that he was unbalanced, he got off the throne again in despair, exclaiming gloomily: `For God's sake let me sit on the ground and tell bad stories about cabbages and things.' Whereupon his cousin Lancaster (spelt Bolingbroke) quickly mounted the throne and said he was Henry IV Part I." . . #charlottemasonhomeschool #amblesideonline #livingbooks

08.01.2022 They were soooo excited to be back on a train and tram today!! We took advantage of our low case numbers to sneak in a quick Sydney adventure. Mr 5 had 7 months of train commentary stored up. He was very loud and very cute . . . #adventure #adventureday #homeschooladventures #homeschool #homeeducation #homeschoolaustralia #aussiehomeschool

06.01.2022 Yesterday. Mr 5 had a doctor's appointment at 2pm. I knew it was at 2pm. I turned up at 1.20 thinking it was 1.50pm So we went for milkshakes. Sometimes the wiring short circuits...

05.01.2022 Mr 5's school. This is what Kindergarten looks like here. Maths, drawing, fairy tales, nursery rhymes and fun stories. Sometimes he does a map drill or spelling words on the iPad. . . . #homeschool #homeeducation #homeschoolaustralia #aussiehomeschool #charlottemasonhomeschool

03.01.2022 We love camping! Also, I have learnt that the iPad is a great way to keep early risers quiet until the rest of the park starts to wake up.
