25.01.2022 Delighted to try the 2014 Bachey-Legros Bourgogne Chardonnay during the week. Sourced from their own vines around Santenay, this is an outstanding example of an entry level White Burgundy that punches will above its weightl
25.01.2022 Looking forward to our tasting today with the Executive Wealth Council at Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club. Delighted to have a magnum of the wonderful 2008 Fluteau Cuvee Prestige Champagne for one lucky guest. Thank you Jennifer Fluteau for you help.
23.01.2022 Had the opportunity to try two of Alex Gambal's outstanding whites recently at dinner at a the Japan Inn in Beaumaris. His 2008 Puligny-Montrachet has always been one of my favourites. We loved it when we first met Alex more than five years ago and this bottle was in great condition - excellent white Burgundy. Even better was the Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrieres" - rich and mouth filling, excellent balance - great wine that punhces well above it;s weight.
23.01.2022 Tried Giles Schoepfer's Muscat over dinner earlier in the week. Alsace Muscat is aromatic and expressive with delicate floral aromas. It is one of the noble varieties grown in Alsace. It is produced in relatively small quantities and is generally successful only in good vintages.... It comprises less than 3% of Alsaces wine production and is rarely seen in Australia. Giles Schoepfers 2013 Muscat is an excellent example of this wine. It is grown on his domaines holdings in Wettolsheim on the outskirts of Colmar. The aroma is elegant and intensely fruity. On the palate, this dry wine is fresh and clean with intense flavour and an attractive finish. It is an outstanding aperitif wine and is often matched with asparagus when in season. It would also match well with herbaceous Vietnamese and Thai dishes. An absolute bargain for an interesting and unusual wine at $35 per bottle.
23.01.2022 Just received our first shipment of the 2014 Besson Chablis and 2014 Besson Chablis 1er Cru "Montmains". Both wines are outstanding - great intensity of flavour, wonderful acidity and a lingering finish.
22.01.2022 Delighted to see our friends enjoying one of our wines from Burgundy over their dinner at Kooyong LTC last night.
22.01.2022 Delighted to see the Domaine Besson's 1er Cru Chablis "Montmains" being served by the glass at Matteo's Restaurant in North Fitzroy. The wine in an excellent match for the outstanding dish of Grilled Patagonian Toothfish.
21.01.2022 Delighted to see that Bill Nanson has given excellent reviews of the Besson range of Chablis of the 2014 vintage. "2014 Chablis Stainless steel aging. A modest but fresh and pretty nose. Nice width and dimensions of flavour. Here is clearly a good address. Super long yum faintly saline with sweetness too."... We have the 2014 Chablis and 2014 "Montmains" arriving in about 3 weeks.
20.01.2022 We have had the opportunity to taste Champagne Fluteaus Extra Brut recently. It has a low dosage of only 3 g/l. Bottled in 2011, it is based on the 2010 vintage with reserve wines from 2009 and 2008. It is remarkably fresh and clean for a wine with six years in the bottle. The colour and bead are both extremely impressive with a light golden hue and a persistent bead that steadily arises from the base of the glass. The nose is both delicate and rich with lemon sorbet, minerals and a hint of autolysis. The palate is very fine with citrus notes, brioche and spices. This has excellent concentration and length at the back of the palate supported by an attractive acid balance. A very fine wine indeed!
20.01.2022 Looking forward to showing a range of Schoenheitz wines to our friends and clients over the next few days with Adrien Schoenheitz. Interested to see what the Nobble Rotters think of the Pinot Noir.
19.01.2022 2008 Champagne Fluteau Symbiose will be poured at one of Melbourne's leading clubs after Easter. Great value Champagne from an outstanding vintage.
19.01.2022 Tried the 2014 Pelaquie Cotes du Rhone Rouge from our latest shipment yesterday. It's refined and elegant, fine wine that will go well with pizza, pasta and a range of winter dishes.
18.01.2022 Domaine Besson Petit Chablis and new season's asparagus - a delightful food and wine match!
18.01.2022 Enjoyed Luc Chaudron's Cuvee Capucine Premier Cru Champagne over a couple of nights. It's named after his daughter and is, indeed, an excellent wine - fine and elegant with length and a firm finish. Very good drinking!
18.01.2022 2018 Château Routas Rosé - new to Australia This delightful Rosé is a blend of 45% Cinsault, 35% Grenache and 20% Syrah from the appellation A.O.C. Coteaux Varois en Provence. This is an outstanding Provence Rosé - fresh, clean and vibrant. It's full or lively fruit, with a depth of flavour - it is elegant and refreshing with a dry finish. A wonderful summer drink.... This is bottled under screw cap.
17.01.2022 Delighted to see Fluteau Champagne getting a tick of approval in "The Wine Enthuisiast" in the USA. "Fluteau 2008 Cuvée Symbiose Brut (Champagne); $40($US), 92 points. This impressive Champagne is rich while tight and mineral-textured. Creamy and ripe, it balances the weight of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay. The producers location in the relatively warm Aube region gives its wines extra fullness. This one is just now ready to drink."
17.01.2022 Here is a photo of some of Champagne Fluteau's vines earlier this week. Let's hope the "big freeze" is over.
15.01.2022 Just received this text from one of our clients: "Drinking a Domaine Besson 2013 Mt de Milieu 1er Cru. Fine quality."
14.01.2022 Champagne Fluteau at OIGFC We are pleased to support the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Football Club in the Victorian Amateur Football Association with the provision of Champagne Fluteau Blanc de Noirs to help their fundraising at their regular Chelsworth Club Luncheons.

12.01.2022 Had the chance to try Guy Farge's St Joseph red recently. It is made from 100% Syrah - 70 year old vines planted on the granite soils near his winery in St Jean du Muzols. This is an outstanding example of pure Syrah with great length and balance.
12.01.2022 Landed our shipment of Fluteau Champagne last week. We tasted the 2008 Champagne Fluteau Cuvee Symbiose last night - blend of 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was a delight to drink - fresh, clean and invigorating showing some development with a fine bead and excellent depth. Really great value @ $65 per bottle or $360 per six pack.
12.01.2022 Delighted with our first tasting on the 2015 wines from Bachey-Legros in Santenay. The whites showed great structure, excellent fruit and were well balanced. The reds were also a pleasure to taste, full flavoured and great length. Fine wines indeed!
10.01.2022 Caught up with Alex Gambal at the Beaune Market this morning. He confirmed our fears about the 2016 vintage in Burgundy. There won't be much! They were hard hit by hail. Quality is good but quantity way down. All lovers of Burgundy will be hoping for a good harvest in 2017. Continued small crops can only put pressure on prices as producers scramble to get enough wine to sell.
09.01.2022 2017 Domaine Besson Petit Chablis This wine continues to punch above its weight - clean, crisp and elegant. Always a delight to drink. Enjoy it now by the glass at Mister Sandrino in Hawthorn.
08.01.2022 Tried the 2013 and 2014 Besson Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons" as a pair. Loved the richness and development balanced by fine acidity in the 2013. The 2014 is a wine of great intensity and complexity with great concentration of flavours. Wonderful pair!
08.01.2022 Delighted to see the 2014 Besson Chablis written up in the July, 2016 edition of "Decanter,"
07.01.2022 Besson Chablis continues to impress. One of our friends commented tonight: "Loved this tonight".
07.01.2022 We have just landed our new shipment of Fluteau Champagne including the Blanc de Noirs, an Extra Brut with a low dosage and the vintage 2006 Symbiose. These are fine drinking from a family that have been making Champagne in the Aube for more than 80 years.
06.01.2022 Opened a Domaine Besson 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir last night. This is one of the 7 climats that comprise Chablis Grand Cru located on a south-east slope facing the village of Chablis. Jacky Rigaux has commented: "The wines produced in this climat are often considered the most accomplished of this appellation with good balance, structure, texture and roundness." ("Burgundy Grand Crus") This summed up the wine perfectly, great depth and length. Will live for many years.
05.01.2022 Our 2015 Pelaquie Lirac Rose is a summer delight and a steal at an introductory price of $200 per case. One of our clients commented "I opened a bottle after a quick chill--and was pleased---huge flavour, certainly no lightweight, over-cropped grapes here--and ripe, with no hint of green fruit. The best of Southern France--sunshine, ripeness, fruit."
04.01.2022 Hoping to have our latest shipment of Fluteau Champagne ready for departure this week.
04.01.2022 Looking forward to receiving our latest shipment of Alex Gambal wines from the 2014 vintage. The ship docked in Melbourne in the early hours of this morning. The wines include a small allotment of his Batard-Montrachet that Tim Atkin MW as rated as "...a stunning wine." If it is anywhere near the quality of the 2013, it will, indeed, be stunning.

03.01.2022 We enjoyed showing our Champagne Fluteau at the recent Taste Champagne Event in Perth. All three cuvees showed up well, particularly the 2008 vintage Symbionse..
03.01.2022 Camille Besson has reported that the 2019 harvest went very well and they collected grapes of very good quality. They suffered a few losses due to the spring frosts but also due to the warm weather during flowering and the lack of rain all summer long. They estimate losses at around 15% it is not catastrophic and could have been worse. In summary, it appears that the 2019 vintage in Chablis will be a very good one.Camille Besson has reported that the 2019 harvest went very we...ll and they collected grapes of very good quality.
