25.01.2022 Photographic evidence of damage to dunes from recent tide and storm surges along Cottesloe beach are very worrying to say the least, and planning schemes need to address this issue before the iconic views and amenities of Cottesloe beach will be lost to all. Check out our latest media release - http://wise-earth.com/media/

24.01.2022 This was a groundbreaking video in it's time - 2006 - but the messages are timeless and relevant for 100s of years to come.

22.01.2022 Back in 2008, Ecotect-Architects were lead consultants employed by the Town Of Cottesloe to master plan alternatives as part of the 2008 Enquiry by Design. The EbD was an exhaustive study that eventually led to the revision of the planning scheme LPS3 after much public consultation and Government interactions in Cottesloe in about 2011. Many years later and we have developed some concepts for the next 15 years which can be used to get discussions started. To have a look at our ideas please see our latest blog - http://nexusarchitectural.com/railway-station-experience/

22.01.2022 Kirsty Barrett Cottesloe East Ward candidate explains what she stands for.

22.01.2022 "WE HAVENT JUST DESIGNED A BUILDING..ENERGY EFFICIENT PATENTS HAVE JUST BEEN FILED We havent just designed a building, we have gone back to first principles ...and re thought the energy aspects of the building and the building materials. In October, 2017, Garry Baverstock filed patents for two of his innovative and ground breaking energy efficient technologies: a solar hot water system and a solar air conditioner. The four year design development, trials and prototype manufacture happened here in Perth, and its application will be a first for Cottesloe, a first for Australia and a first for the world. Not only will these inventions significantly reduce owners power costs by as much as 65% but they will significantly contribute to Cottesloe Town Councils legislated commitment to reduce the carbon footprint by 20% by 2020. Garry has drawn on his lifelong professional involvement in sustainable building design in all its aspects to now focus on the elements of building that have in the past been huge users of energy. The inventions will, to a large extent, make high power bills a thing of the past, while reducing green house gas emissions. An additional part of the energy reducing strategy will be the integration of a new building brick system which supports the thermal mass aspect of the building. The brick system has been successfully trialled in Germany and the Eastern States. Its integration into the SVT project will be a first for Western Australia Local Planning Scheme No.3 - Amendment No. 5 Has finally been approved.

21.01.2022 We need to work on solutions for this now. NATScope will bring together a multidisciplinary team to help. Contact Wise Earth or Ecotect Architects for more information.

21.01.2022 The below buildings in Bayswater show the old and new emerging in a mixed development way that will be compatible with some community facilities and enclaves of affordable housing communities in the future (Ecotect Architects built the building on the right back in the 1990's and we love how it is complemented by the new development). Closeness to the railway make it a perfect application as elsewhere in the world, and protects single residential areas from poorly considered ...infill developments. Wouldn't it be great to see the area close to the railway line modelled similar to the works depot area in Fremantle and East Perth? We have discussed our ideas with Steven Ostaszewskyj, Candidate for City of Bayswater Central Ward and Future Bayswater. At the moment unemployment is an issue in the area and by offering diversity of lifestyles and industry opportunities we might be able to help the local economy. 21.01.2022 Garry recently visited the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge is located in the Shire of Northam on the foreshore of the Avon River in Northam’s CBD. This regional tourist attraction offers an interactive educational experience that recognises the rich Aboriginal and environmental presence in the Nyoongar Ballardong region. The Centre protects, celebrates and shares the culture of the Nyoongar people and highlights land management practices that draws upon the knowledge of the land’s traditional custodians. Garry and the team are impressed that Cultural Centres like this are emerging to protect culture, share and educate us all!

19.01.2022 Excellent article from San Francisco supporting the active YIMBY Millennium movement. Wiener says, unless you support dense housing in walkable neighborhoods with public transportation.

18.01.2022 Weve talked about it for many years and finally theres progress and public interest. As part of the development of options to inform the COAG Energy Council trajectory for low energy existing buildings, Stakeholder Reference Group workshops are being held across the country from June to August. The Perth workshop is July 25.

16.01.2022 As we sit here and try to encapsulate the impact of the predicted post Corona crisis, it is an ideal time to envision the future and identify perhaps where our global collective thinking (as applied to Australia) may be going wrong. Away from the usual high volume of economic activity, we now have time to reflect and re-assess future directions. Addressing Climate Change creates a myriad of different opinions, but the big elephant in the room has always been Global Populati...on, along with degradation of the biosphere and natural world by mankind for at least 100 years now. Arguably, there is now a herd of elephants in the room responsible for Human Impacts on Climate Change, and putting off effective action cannot be avoided for much longer. Rates of consumption combined with population growth, has made survival untenable. If it was easy for Governments to deal with it, then it would be have happened by now. Read on as Garry Baverstock addresses his opinions on the challenges facing the future of climate change here: http://wise-earth.com/future-directions-for-climate-change/

10.01.2022 With passive solar designs all buzz words within the industry at the moment, we've visited the argument being put forward by some researchers about the use of heavy weight materials and climate change. 09.01.2022 Wise Earth has recently developed an R&D demo building operation; WEBS (Wise Earth Building Solutions). 08.01.2022 You will find Ilios Gardens on the corner of Congdon and Railway Streets. It's a small scale development in the heart of Swanbourne. When retired jewellery designer, Katherine Kalaf and her friend of many years, Eco Architect, Garry Bavertstock met, they would often speculate about downsizing opportunities in their hood. Nothing on the market met their needs. When a site became available on the corner of Congdon and Railway Streets, opposite the Swanbourne railway station a...nd shopping precinct, they purchased it with a view to fulfilling their dream of a well-designed retirement concept for life loving, active retirees. Four years of obstacles and careful planning has borne fruit. Named ILIOS after the Greek word for sun, Ilios Gardens offers a lifestyle based on the benefits of transport oriented precinct living, stunning architecture with extensive gardens, smart integrated technologies for energy minimisation and recycling, and importantly close to rail, shopping, restaurants and the multiple amenities seaside Swanbourne and Cottesloe has to offer. See our media release for more information, http://wise-earth.com/launch-of-ilios-gardens-swanbourne/

04.01.2022 Time is of the essence!

03.01.2022 There has been some research completed recently about scarce resources of which many people might find surprising. Australia is already over-populated, not to mention the driest inhabited continent in the world with water restrictions in all major cities. John Dartnell from Envirosustain.com.au has documented a few issues around the world and with Australia in particular, the following areas:... - Freshwater per person (its the most important scarce resource locally) - Arable land per person (which together with water leads to food problems) - Oil (affecting agricultural machines, refrigeration, transport) heck out this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjsThobgq7Q&feature=youtu.be
