25.01.2022 An interesting article about a syndrome I work with a lot. Acupuncture may be useful for peripheral neuropathy caused by many different factors, such as diabetes, chemotherapy and post surgical issues. Pass this on to help someone who may be affected.

24.01.2022 Interesting new meta analysis of research of the use of acupuncture in relieving side effects associated with cancer treatment.

22.01.2022 Another case of pneumothorax (punctured lung) by a physio doing dry needling. Please be aware that a registered acupuncturist has a 4year university degree or equivalent with over a 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice before they can practice. A practitioner not registered to do acupuncture can do a weekend course or at best around 26 hours. Acupuncturists do dry needling but correctly call it ashi acupuncture. A four year degree or weekend course, what would you prefer?

22.01.2022 Acupuncture a better choice for pain according to NICE

21.01.2022 It is International Psoriasis Day on the 29th October. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can assist with the underlying causes of psoriasis and other skin disorders by relieving the stress associated, managing itch and frequency of outbreaks. Dietary advice can also assist with maintaining certain conditions. This time of year with the immune system overload associated with Spring and hay fever can see an increase in some conditions, so if it is bothering you now or you want to manage better you can make an appointment with your nearest acupuncturist or Chinese medicine practitioner. And if it is hay fever you are suffering from, there is significant evidence that acupuncture can help allergic rhinitis, so stop the itching and snuffling and visit.

17.01.2022 For those who may consider using someone who does dry needling instead of an acupuncturist with a four year university degree and 1000 hours of supervised clinic work before they can register and practice in Australia, read this latest court case finding in NSW. Poorly trained weekend warriors using dry needling can be very dangerous. https://ajp.com.au//banned-therapist-had-grossly-inadequa/

08.01.2022 According to the most up to date evidence, acupuncture is an effective treatment for anxiety. - a 2016 systematic review with over 400 randomised patients that... concluded that the effects from acupuncture for treating anxiety have been shown to be significant as compared to conventional treatments. The largest of these studies, which included 120 randomized patients, found that acupuncture had a large effect on reducing anxiety and depression compared to conventional treatment involving pharmalogical approaches and psychotherapy, with over twice the reduction in symptoms. - a more recent systematic review published in 2018 found that all 13 included studies reported an anxiety decrease for their treatment group relative to the control groups. Three of these studies used pharmaceuticals as controls. #EvidenceBasedAcupuncture https://www.evidencebasedacupuncture.org//acupuncture-anx/
