19.01.2022 Saturday 7th December 2019 Fire Update - Community Meeting at 18:00hrs There will be a community meeting at St Albans Station this evening at 6:00pm. The commu...nity is strongly urged to attend. We will be presenting a comprehensive fire update and provide a broad outline of our strategies for the coming days. As we said yesterday, we have fires to the north, east and south of our valley. Of particular concern to us, the northern and eastern fires will shortly join and present a challenging fire front to manage. Property protection continues to be our highest priority and we want the community to be aware of how we will be managing this aspect for some time. Heavy plant has been working to strengthen district containment lines. Dozers and posi-track machines continue their work in Upper and Higher Macdonald and have commenced working around property assets (houses, sheds etc.) east to Wrights Ck and north along the Wollombi Rd area. Over the last couple of days, we have had crews working day and night responding to calls in the Settlers Rd/Wrights Ck area, assisting Lower Macdonald brigade and NPWS in defending properties. We have also begun major back burning in the Perrys Rd area with the help of strike teams from the Northern Beaches RFS and various Fire and Rescue units. This work will continue for several days. Similar plans are being prepared for other areas along the northern parts of Wollombi Rd to limit the impact from the expanding Thompsons Ck fire and along the southern parts to limit the impact from the Wrights Ck fire. Again, we strongly urge you to attend tonights meeting. Please dont hesitate in contacting the station if you have any concerns, however we will be busy over the next couple of days and may take a little time to return calls. Regards St Albans Station

In the interest of keeping our community as safe as we can, who would be interested in the offer of sending your grocery, takeaway food and coffee orders through online, so all you have to do is drive up to our shop to collect. ... I understand the problems with internet, we too have no landline. A lot have messenger and I believe fir those that dont we could assist our neighbours by doing their orders with yours for collection.
