01.01.2022 Thanks to Nathan Exelby and the Courier Mail for their support of 102.7FM's ongoing support of Ben & Wade. Please SHARE this story with all and if you would lik...e to be a part of this initiative please don't hesitate to get in touch with 102.7FM on (07) 4638 4171 or 0413 603 588. Racing 5/10/17 INJURED track riders Wade Clasohm and Ben Saunders will soon be on the airwaves of Toowoomba community radio as part of an initiative by 102.7FM to help raise more money for the pair. Clasohm and Saunders were paralysed in a fall at Toowoomba’s Clifford Park in April and several fundraisers were held at the time but 102.7FM president Sara Andrews said the station wanted to do more. The station has pledged 50 per cent of all revenue raised in the next 12 months through sponsorship and advertising for Clasohm and Saunders. We are a community radio station and what better way to show our support for the community than to give back to those in need, Andrews said. In addition, Clasohm and Saunders are set to join host David Silver as part of the Pat O’Shea National Racing Service on Saturday mornings. Saunders plans to go to trackwork, trials and jumpouts in doing the form for his role. Injured trackwork riders Ben Saunders and Wade Clasohm will team up on the airwaves of Toowoomba community radio station 102.7FM. I can’t wait for the opportunity to have some involvement, have something else to focus on other than my recovery and give something back to all those who support the industry and us,’’ he said. ‘‘I’m really excited.’’ Clasohm said he doesn’t regard himself as the best tipster, but intends to use a proven formula in finding winners. I think if I just stick with Ben Currie’s horses, I’ll be right with the way he’s going lately,’’ he said. ‘‘I’m looking forward to doing the show. I just hope I make some decent selections.’’ Champion jockey Hugh Bowman has thrown his support behind the campaign. Sadly what they have experienced is the reality of what can happen while working with horses and we all need to be mindful of what they are going through and will continue to go through for many years, Bowman said. They and their families will need help both emotionally and financially and this initiative is a great way for business and the community at large to support two of their own.
