25.01.2022 As a community chaplain I see my role as both ‘loving my neighbour as myself’, by being available for people to talk to when they need a listening ear or a helping hand, and also being missional, by taking any opportunity to witness’ Jesus love in the community

25.01.2022 The Old Testament prophet Habakkuk knew a lot about suffering and injustice. Tomorrow I have the great privilege of sharing what he learnt in my churchs livestream service 9:30am : www.stjohnswishart.com.au/live if you are interested.
24.01.2022 "I want to encourage you to take really good care of yourself during this anxious time. That might mean: - beginning/ending your day in contemplative prayer and/or meditation, with additional pockets of time through the day to breathe... - taking in national news in small doses - limiting your social media scrolling. - avoiding trauma bonding (anxious conversation which scapegoats and reacts) and fostering real and healthy conversations where you share clear feelings, needs, and requests - getting a good nights sleep, which may mean giving up things that create obstacles to good sleep, like alcohol or late night binge watching. - turning off notifications on your phone, and turning on do not disturb in the evening to reduce stimulus - getting physical exercise - connecting by phone or video to 2-3 friends or family members a day" Chuck deGroat https://chuckdegroat.net/ If youd like someone confidential to talk to, message me your number and Ill call you back. Theres no cost, just a listening ear who is here for you. Michelle

19.01.2022 I have 5 copies of this book to give away to anyone looking for hope (or even just a good read!) in this time of isolation. What it says on the back: ""Two devastating words left me feeling hopeless and lost. Tumour and incurable.... So begins David McDonalds desperate search for hope through the unflinching gaze of his terminal cancer diagnosis. His dreams shattered, his family distraught, his body wracked by chemotherapy and his faith severely tested, this Christian pastor went back to the Bible to find out for certain: Is God there? Does he care? When there is no cure, does God still offer hope?" Hope beyond cure is not just for those with cancer ... but is also relevant in our current pandemic and a whole range of lifes heartaches. If you would like a copy, PM me your address and Ill either post it to you or drop it into your letterbox.

07.01.2022 As restrictions are starting to ease, spare a thought for those who have worked all the way through the months many of us have been at home. Today I dropped in some morning tea to the hard working team at the Mt Gravatt Community Centre. These wonderful people have been looking after our community with food parcels and phone calls throughout the period of isolation. Thank you all!! I hope you can get some time off when everyone else returns to work!!

02.01.2022 Anzac Day is a time when we can reflect on the contributions made by Australian Defence Force personnel who have displayed great courage, discipline and self-sa...crifice in choosing a life of service to their country. This year there are more than 2,400 ADF members away from their families, deployed on operations and exercises in Australia and around the world, upholding the Anzac spirit while defending Australias national interests. Anzac Day can be a deeply emotional time for members, veterans and their families, and some may find this year particularly difficult. Defence family members seeking advice or support can call the all-hours Defence Family Helpline on 1800 624 608 or Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling on 1800 011 046. #YourADF #ADFfamilies #AnzacDay2020 #StandAtDawn
