25.01.2022 Soooooo good to be back in the Park. Our season ended in March when restrictions began, and is beginning now as restrictions have eased. Feeling grateful for the timing and the opportunity to see everyone again in the flesh.

06.01.2022 Flipp and Flapp - the sweet, grey fantails - nested in the Banksia next to the house. We watched them build it from sticks and cobwebs. We watched them lay, then brood on the their eggs for about 2 weeks They didn't seem to mind us, and would often hover in front of us to get a good look. We watched Flipper and Flapper hatch.... Sadly, this was the last day of their lives, so I was happy I filmed some of it. Rats are natural predators and come during the night. The nest was abandoned for a day, and we felt sad and missed our new friends. We wondered how, as parents, they felt about it all. We read that they don't continue to brood in a 'failed' nest. Then, a day later, Flipp and Flapp returned. They started to deconstruct the nest, one twig at a time. It seems they're relocating, only about 50 mt away, and are getting on with life quite well. Apparently, they have several hatches during the season. We learned a lot watching Flipp and Flapp in action. Far more interesting than watching the news. See more
