This arched detailing is VERY on trend coming into 2020. Curved elements from joinery to wall detailing and furniture are the way to go if youre looking to redecorate this year. 25.01.2022 Following from our previous post of trying to find the perfect grey - we have finalized the kitchen colours! Yay! Another important tip is: Always get physical samples!... Computer screens can only tell you so much, then you realize the grey that you like on screen is more like a green in real life and its back to the drawing board! Always see your options later out in front of you so that you can touch and feel the items and make the decision after youve seen the colours in natural and artificial light and amongst your existing house features that are close by like the floor. I am a big fan of neutral colours for a kitchen, especially if you want to display that cool red kitchen aid that youve had locked away - haha! Sometimes, designing can mean using a minimal colour palette but adding texture and patterns so that its not boring. 13.01.2022 Weve had a lot of enquiries come through for kitchen renovations lately as people are spending more time at home and preparing more fresh meals so I thought Id share some of my tips if youre currently thinking about renovating or maybe plan to in the future. Here you will see a snippet of a set of construction drawings for one of our kitchen designs. We started off with about 5 floor plan ideas that had things that the client wanted in each and because it was such a sma...ll kitchen to work with, there were pros and cons for each design. In the end, this is the design that we are going with as it maximizes the space for pantry storage but also allows for a shelf display area for beautiful crockery and cookbook books which is what the client wanted ultimately. One of the most important things when designing your kitchen is: space planning! Its not easy to do and requires a lot of thinking, considerations and reconfigurations. It may mean that you might have to sacrifice storage for the appliance you want or vice versa. 10 Things that you need to consider: 1. What appliances do you want in your kitchen? Your appliances need to be chosen prior to designing your kitchen. Will you be reusing any of your appliances? 2. What is currently not working in your kitchen that you want to change for your new kitchen. i.e. not enough storage. 3. Do you want breakfast bar seating? 4. Corner pantry vs. normal pantry. 5. Single or double bowl sink? 6. Cooktop and oven combo or separate? 7. Appliance cupboard? 8. Laminate vs. 2-pac polyurethane. 9. Splash back options: stone, tiles, or acrylic mirror. 10. 12.01.2022 This was our option B for the law firm. It was a take on a more classic look that brought in warmer tones and it was created around an existing reception desk colour. As per our previous post, we ended up going for a monochromatic palette which better matches their branding. But sometimes its just nice to look back at the work weve done and reflect on how we came to the final design. 02.01.2022 Whats your night routine? I always find that the days when I roll out of bed fresh is when I have all the things in place the night before! My night routine involves putting a load of serums and moisturizers on my face and then end the day in bed by reading a chapter of a book. Im currently reading Australian Designers at Home and absolutely loving the styles that each designer has brought into their own homes over the years. ... Designing a home on your own takes a lot of time, research and youre bound to make mistakes a long the way. The key to any decorating or design project is to have a plan. Pinterest sounds fun but really is just taking away time away from what you actually need to do. Just pick a max of 5 images that you really love and work with that. Or else youll travel down the rabbit hole of liking too many different styles and youre already stuck before you even started!
