25.01.2022 WKBCC Fixtures!! Good luck to all teams this weekend #WKBCC
25.01.2022 WKBCC SENIOR MATCH OVERVIEW: 21-22 NOVEMBER A Grade: v Waroona @ Arpenteur Park The WKBCC A grade team looked to continue their strong start to the season at ho...me against Waroona. In a game which came down to the final over, WKBCC prevailed by just 5 runs. WKBCC won the toss and chose to bat first. A half century by the in-form David Melia (84*) helped WKBCC reach a score of 8/214 off their 50 overs. The likes of Wesley Steele (37) and Matt Rennie (20) weathered the early storm and allowed Melia to score relatively freely. Waroona managed to grab the upper hand when they went into bat, and at 4/203, appeared to be likely victors. A mini-collapse saw Waroona lose 3/6, and fall agonisingly short of the WKBCC total in the process, finishing up with 7/209 off their 50 overs. The ever-reliable duo of Pete Russell (2/20 off 10) and Tousif Miran (2/36 off 9) bowled wonderfull spells, claiming two wickets each. Captain Stefan Botha (1/28 off 9) and Mitch Brown (1/53 off 9) both picked up one wicket each. This latest victory sees WKBCC remain 2nd on the A grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: DAVID MELIA B Grade: v North Baldivis @ Bertram PS The WKBCC B grade team travelled up to Bertram PS to take on rivals North Baldivis. In a closely fought contest, North Baldivis prevailed by 7 runs. North Baldivis won the toss and elected to bat first. A good bowling performance, highlighted by Adrian Mills claiming 5/36 off 10 overs, allowed WKBCC to keep North Baldivis to 141 in 43.3 overs. Jordan Sprigg (2/37 off 10) and Khyle Sinclair (2/14 off 3.3) each took two wickets apiece, and Matt Jordan (1/27 off 10) claimed one wicket for himself. A number of WKBCC players made solid starts to their innings, but none of them passed 30 (captain Daniel Cole and Tom Lewis joint top scoring with 27); North Baldivis striking at regular intervals to bowl WKBCC out for 133. The loss to their cross-town rivals sees WKBCC’s B grade team falls down to 7th on the B grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: ADRIAN MILLS C Grade: v Mandurah @ Eighty Road Reserve The WKBCC C grade team hoped to bounce back from their loss last time out with a win at home against Mandurah. They were able to do so pretty comfortably, winning by 91 runs. WKBCC won the toss and chose to bat first. An even 100 from Chris Hughes and 85 from Nick Pavlovic formed the backbone of WKBCC’s formidable total of 5/289, scored in 45 overs. Mandurah batted reasonably well, but the massive WKBCC total simply proved to be too much for Mandurah; who were bowled out for 196 in 43 overs. Lachlan Sandiford bowled well and picked up figured of 3/31 off 8 overs. Dylan Yeomans also bowled pretty well and claimed 2/38 off his 9 overs. Steve Hewins picked up 1/24 off 7 overs whilst opening the bowling, and the spinners Luke Gray (1/42 off 6) and Luke Green (1/25 off 6) claimed one wicket apiece. The largely impressive performance sees WKBCC end the round in 3rd on the C grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: CHRIS HUGHES D Grade: v Waroona @ Waroona Turf The WKBCC D grade side had a long drive down south to take on bottom of the ladder Waroona. WKBCC won in style; winning by 105 runs. Waroona won the toss and batted first, but were bowled out for 81 thanks chiefly to a brilliant spell from WKBCC co-captain Aidan Slomp (5/18 off 9). Mitch Graham (3/8 off 7.5) and Andrew Smart (2/36 off 9) supported their co-captain well with good spells of their own. Chris Pearson (0/0 off 3) and Eli McIntosh (0/4 off 6) both bowled remarkably economical spells, not letting Waroona off the hook at any stage. Despite the loss of Larry Betts off the first ball of the innings, WKBCC eased their way to 7/186 off 45 overs. Ray Schuller (72) scored his first half century of the season; club stalwarts David Brewer (37) and Leigh McIntosh (44) also making valuable contributions for their side. WKBCC’s D grade team lie in 2nd place after this victory. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: AIDAN SLOMP E Grade: v Mandurah @ Meadow Springs The WKBCC E grade team looked to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign with another win, over Mandurah at Meadow Springs. They were able to win in fine style once more; winning by 68 runs. Mandurah won the toss and elected to bat first. A wicket to Lewis Swar off the first ball of the Mandurah innings set the tone for the game; Mandurah quickly collapsing to 6/39. A lower order revival saw Mandurah reach a somewhat reasonable total of 128. Swar (4/28 off 8 overs) and his opening partner Glen Parise (2/28 off 8 overs) bowled well to keep Mandurah on the back foot early on; Rod Graham (1/14 off 6), Matt Duggan (1/18 off 8 overs) Liam Betley (1/12 off 3) and Simon Grobbelaar (1/15 off 5) all chipped in with a wicket each. Parise (68) and Duggan (53*) capped off a good all-round day with half centuries, and helping WKBCC reach 3/196 off their 40 overs. Jacob Gabba (18) resisted the Mandurah assault early on, which allowed the likes of Parise, Duggan and Mike Snashall (25*) to pile on the runs for their side. This win sees WKBCC move to the top of the E Grade ladder for the first time this season. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: MATT DUGGAN F Grade: v North Baldivis @ Baldivis HS The WKBCC F grade team hosted cross-town rivals North Baldivis at Baldivis High School. North Baldivis emerged the victors by 26 runs in a closely fought contest. WKBCC won the toss and had a bat. Reid Stewart’s 68 formed the backbone of WKBCC’s score of 162 all out. He was the only WKBCC player to score 20+ runs; Pete Kenyon second top scored with 17. North Baldivis made solid progress towards the target score, but WKBCC were able to drag the game into the final over of North Baldivis’ innings, before a last over barrage saw North Baldivis reach 6/188 off their 40 overs. Reid Stewart (2/14 off 5) and Adam Briggs (2/18 off 8 overs) both bowled well in WKBCC’s quest to hold off North Baldivis; Adam’s brother Jamie (1/46 off 8 overs) and Aaron Wilesmith (1/20 off 5) both picked up one wicket each. The loss sees WKBCC drop to 6th on the F grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: REID STEWART Ladies: v South Mandurah @ Eighty Road Reserve The WKBCC ladies team hosted an unbeaten South Mandurah side at Eighty Road, and were able to pick up an 18 run win. WKBCC won the toss and bowled first. Economical bowling from each WKBCC player saw South Mandurah reach 3/89 off their 16 overs; Michelle Artemis (0/3 off 2) being the standout. Consistently solid batting from the WKBCC players saw them eclipse the South Mandurah total and reach 4/107 off 16 overs. Mel Rawles top scored with 18; Charlee McKenzie (17), Nakita Toia (17) and Michelle Artemis (16) also scored 15+ runs. WKBCC’s win sees them move up to 5th place in the ladies’ competition. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: MICHELLE ARTEMIS

25.01.2022 White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club Senior Match Overview: 20 February* A Grade: v Singleton Irwinians @ Arpenteur Park Baldivis’ A grade side fall out of the t...op four of the A grade competition after a 117 run defeat at the hands of Singleton Irwinians. Singleton won the toss and chose to bat first. Useful contributions throughout the Singleton batting order enabled them to make 7/230 off their 50 overs. Captain Stefan Botha (3/58 off 10) and Ben Merrifield (2/43 off 10) did most of the damage with 5 wickets between them, with Pete Russell (1/28 off 10) and Mitch Brown (1/50 off 9) taking the remaining two wickets between them. Jai Sinclair (32) and Dan Freemantle (17) got Baldivis off to a good start by putting on a 52 run opening stand. Freemantle’s dismissal sparked a collapse in the remainder of the Baldivis batting order. Baldivis fell to 113 all out; Mitch Brown (14) and Pete Russell (28) providing some late resistance. POTM: PETE RUSSELL (1/28 OFF 10 OVERS AND 28) B Grade: v Singleton Irwinians @ Laurie Stanford Reserve (South) Baldivis’ B grade side fall to 4th on the B grade ladder after losing to Singleton Irwinians by 7 wickets. Baldivis won the toss and batted first, but were dismissed for just 98. Dylan Yeomans, batting at #11, top scored with 19. Khyle Sinclair (13*) and Nick Pavlovic (12) were the only other Baldivis players to reach double figures. Despite slumping to 2/18, Singleton never looked likely to give up their winning position, and cruised to 3/99 in 24.5 overs. Yeomans and Shaun Lynn both picked up one wicket. POTM: DYLAN YEOMANS (19 AND 1/18 OFF 8 OVERS) C Grade: v Singleton Irwinians @ Laurie Stanford Reserve (North) Baldivis’ C grade team remained in third on the C grade ladder after beating Singleton Irwinians by 45 runs. Baldivis won the toss and batted first. Four ducks were recorded, but Baldivis still reached an even 200. Leigh McIntosh top scored with 70; he and Leigh Sibley (32) put on 72 for the 2nd wicket. Chris Klau (23) tried to hold the middle order together, which allowed Mitch Graham (40) and Luke Gray (22) to boost the Baldivis total with a handy 37 run stand for the 9th wicket. Steve Hewins (3/19 off 9) took three early wickets to leave Singleton reeling at 3/34, and they never fully recovered from the early strikes, being bowled out for 145. Mitch Graham picked up three late scalps and finished with 3/21 off 8 overs, Matt White picked up 2/24 off his 9 overs, and Ryan DeBoni and Luke Gray took one wicket each. POTM: LEIGH MCINTOSH (70) D Grade: v Singleton Irwinians @ Eighty Road Baldivis’ D grade continued to solidify their lead at the head of the D grade competition after beating Singleton Irwinians by 40 runs. Baldivis won the toss and chose to bat first. A number of handy contributions throughout the Baldivis batting order enabled them to reach 9/215 off 45 overs. Co-captain Marco Swanepoel top scored with 53, with Reid Stewart (36), Chris Ramsay (30) and Eli McIntosh (31) all passing 30. Ramsay and McIntosh added 61 for the 7th wicket to help Baldivis reach the 200 mark. Three wickets in quick succession early in Singleton’s innings saw them collapse to 3/28. Whilst their middle order were able to somewhat rebuild the innings, they never quite looked like chasing down the Baldivis total, finishing up on 7/175. Swanepoel’s co-captain Aidan Slomp did the damage for Baldivis with 4/43 off 9 overs, with Chris Ramsay, Simon Grobbelaar and Nathan Thomas all taking one wicket each. POTM: AIDAN SLOMP (4/43 OFF 9 OVERS) E Grade: v Warnbro @ Koorana PS Baldivis’ E grade side bounced back from their heavy loss last time out with a 17 run win over Warnbro. Warnbro won the toss, but chose to send Baldivis into bat. Jason Youlden formed the cornerstone of the innings, batting the entire 40 overs and scoring 97*. Pete Kenyon provided Youlden with great support, scoring 51. The pair put on 120 for the third wicket and Baldivis finished up with 3/203 off 40 overs. Braydon Haskell took three early wickets, and with Rod Graham picking up one for himself, Warnbro was reeling at 4/41. However, a century by Warnbro opener Broden Balsley-Polley gave Warnbro a chance at snatching the win, before Haskell came back on to pick up two more wickets to snuff out that chance. Warnbro finished up with 7/186 off 40 overs; Haskell finishing up with 5/26 off 8 overs. Jamie Briggs chipped in with one wicket of his own. POTM: BRAYDON HASKELL (5/26 OFF 8 OVERS) F Grade: v Singleton Irwinians @ Baldivis HS The White Knights Baldivis’ F grade side, containing nine junior players, went down by 77 runs to Singleton Irwinians, in what was a spirited effort by the young team. Baldivis finally won the toss, and elected to field first. Matilda Gray picked up three quick wickets early on, leaving Singleton reeling at 3/16. The young Baldivis team continued to impress, and had Singleton on the ropes at 7/87, before late resistance from Singleton helped them reach 9/184 off 40 overs. Matilda Gray bowled impressively throughout her spell, picking up 4/35 off her 8 overs. Captain Nick Rust picked up 2/40 off his 8 overs, and Aidan O’Brien (1/8 off 5) and Taye Langmaid (1/19 off 3) picked up one wicket each. Despite only reaching 7/107, the Baldivis junior players showed a lot of fight when it came time to bat, placing a high price on their wicket and not throwing it away. Rory Mackenzie top scored with a hard fought 49, with Nick Rust (23*) hitting some quick runs at the tail-end of the Baldivis innings. POTM: RORY MACKENZIE (49) AND MATILDA GRAY (4/35 OFF 8 OVERS) * The ladies team lost on forfeit to South Mandurah.

24.01.2022 WKBCC SENIOR MATCH OVERVIEW: 31 OCTOBER - 1 NOVEMBER 2020 A Grade: Round 2 v Secret Harbour @ Stan Twight Reserve The WKBCC A grade team looked to back up their... win against Warnbro in Round 1 with another win against Secret Harbour. They were able to do so; emerging victorious by seven wickets. WKBCC lost the toss and bowled first, but another dominant display with the ball bundled Secret Harbour out for just 102. Tousif Miran (4/34 off 9) and captain Stefan Botha (3/15 off 6.3) were the main destroyers, with Mitch Brown (2/23 off 10) and Ben Sharp (1/15 off 4) claiming wickets of their own. Despite losing Willem De Klerk (6) cheaply, a 53 run partnership for the second wicket between Wesley Steele (40*) and Matt Rennie (30) brought the team to the brink of victory. Even the loss of Rennie and David Melia (4) in quick succession didn’t slow WKBCC down, Adam Bremner (4* off 1) striking a boundary off his first ball to secure victory. The win allows WKBCC to move a point clear at the top of the A grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: TOUSIF MIRAN B grade: Round 1 v Hillman @ Arpenteur Park The WKBCC B grade side kicked off their season with a home game against Hillman CC. Hillman emerged the winners by 31 runs. WKBCC lost the toss and bowled first. Things looked like they were going Hillman’s way at first, cruising to 2/120, before Khyle Sinclair (3/36 off 10) and Adrian Mills (4/27 off 10) ran their way through their middle/lower order to bowl Hillman out for 164. Shaun Lynn (2/20 off 10) bowled a good spell at the beginning of the Hillman innings, and Roy Crouch (1/0 off 0.3) chipped in with the final Hillman wicket. In reply, a number of WKBCC players made starts, but only Haydn Cahir (21) passed 20. Hillman took wickets at regular intervals, not allowing WKBCC to build any real momentum into their innings; WKBCC ultimately being bowled out for 133. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: ADRIAN MILLS C grade: Round 1 v Pinjarra @ Murray River Oval The WKBCC C grade team began their season with a trip to Pinjarra. In a solid all-round performance, WKBCC beat Pinjarra by six wickets. WKBCC lost the toss and bowled first. WKBCC quickly held the upper hand, reducing Pinjarra to 6/88 and were poised to run through the Pinjarra tail. However, a couple of partnerships in the Pinjarra lower order saw them reach a respectable total of 169. Steve Hewins (2/30 off 9), Matt White (2/33 off 9) and Dylan Yeomans (2/16 off 6) were the players who did the early damage for WKBCC, taking two wickets apiece. Luke Green (3/20 off 5) managed to end the Pinjarra lower order resistance, and Mitchell Graham (1/16 off 6.2) chimed in with one wicket. Despite losing captain Greame Harrison for a first ball duck on the first ball of the innings, WKBCC controlled their innings well; with Chris Hughes (47) top scoring and Josh Allison (34) and Chris Klau (32) both passing 30, WKBCC passed the Pinjarra total with six overs to spare. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: CHRIS HUGHES D grade: Round 1 v Warnbro @ Eighty Road Reserve The WKBCC D grade side had a home fixture against Warnbro to kick off their 2020-2021 campaign. In a reasonably high scoring match, WKBCC emerged victorious by 50 runs. WKBCC lost the toss and were sent into bat first. Brewer and McIntosh put on a century stand for the 3rd wicket, McIntosh and Ryan Kenny (35) put on a further 72 runs for the 4th wicket, and Chris Ramsay (21) finished off the innings with some strong hitting. Warnbro batted reasonably well, but WKBCC struck regularly enough to have Warnbro bowled out for 191. Callen Sprigg (3/26 off 5) led the way with the ball, claiming three wickets. Matt Duggan (2/25 off 8 overs) and Chris Pearson (2/25) picked up two wickets apiece, and Ramsay (1/25 off 7) and Eli McIntosh (1/41 off 8 overs) chipped in with one wicket each. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: LEIGH MCINTOSH E grade: Round 1 v Pinjarra @ Baldivis HS The WKBCC E grade side kicked off their campaign with a home game against Pinjarra. Co-captain Jason Youlden (64) and Glen Parise (54) put on 102 for the second wicket, forming a reasonable total of 8/157 off 40 overs. The WKBCC bowlers piled on the pressure on the Pinjarra batsmen for the entirety of the Pinjarra innings, rolling them for 83. Parise completed a good all-round performance by claiming 3/12 off 7.2 overs, bowling well in tandem with Simon Grobbelaar (2/12 off 8 overs). Rod Graham (2/8 off 3) and Braydon Haskell (2/14 off 6) also claimed two wickets apiece, and Liam Betley (1/18 off 4) picked up a solitary wicket. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: GLEN PARISE F grade: Round 1 v Warnbro @ Warnbro Rec F grade began their 2020-2021 campaign with an away game against Warnbro. 22.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. In Australia, today is also R U OK? Day. Over 800,000 people take their own life every year. This is approximately one person every 40 seconds, and it is also approximately double the amount of deaths by homicides (around 400,000 deaths per year).... Suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15-24 year old people worldwide, and in Australia, it is the leading cause of death for people aged 15-44 years old. The worldwide suicide rate as of 2017 for men is 13.9 deaths per 100,000, and for women, it is 6.3 deaths per 100,000 (down on the 1995 stats of 20.23 deaths per 100,000 and 11.9 deaths per 100,000). Worldwide, 1.4% of all deaths are attributed to suicide. At the high end of the scale, around 5% percent of deaths in South Korea are suicides, and at the low end of the scale, 0.4% of deaths in Greece are suicides. In Australia, 20% of the population aged 15-85 will suffer from a mental illness at any given time. The highest proportion of people who suffer from mental issues aged 15-24, but a mental health issue can arise no matter your age. One in seven Australians will suffer from depression in their lifetime. One in four Australians will suffer from an anxiety condition during their life. 45% of Australians will suffer from any form of mental illness during their lifetime. Between 30% and 80% of people worldwide never seek out help for their conditions, and a huge reason for this is the stigma surrounding mental health. Always remember to check up on your friends and family, not just today, but as often as you can. You might just save their life.

The loss leaves WKBCC in 4th on the U14s ladder after Round Two. WKBCC lost the toss, and were sent into bat first. Micayla Roelofse (30) and Jessica Bertoncin (22) helped form the backbone of WKBCC’s impressive total of 3/175 off their 20 overs. Emily Fowlie (17) and Sienna Styles (15) both chimed in with solid contributions of their own. WKBCC were again dominant with the ball, rolling Willetton for just 52, in 13 overs. Jessica Bertoncin (2/0 off 1) was the main destroyer; Micayla Roelofse (1/4 off 2) and Natasha Favro (1/7 off 2) also chipped in with wickets of their own. Roelofse and Emily Fowlie also combined to cause a run out. The win sees WKBCC move a game clear at the head of the U15 girls ladder. After an initial delay due to a clay shortage the groundworks, grass seeding and net frame construction were completed last year and it has now gotten to the stage where we can start to transform this patch of grass into usable turf wickets. Pete Russell has kindly volunteered his time and will take the lead on maintaining ...these wickets and he with the help of others will ensure we have top quality training facilities. Having these facilities will be a huge asset for the club and all going to plan we should be training on these by December this year. Despite losing Steele and Matt Rennie (2) in quick succession, WKBCC continued to put on solid partnerships, with De Klerk and David Melia (49) scoring 42 for the third wicket, and Melia and Adam Bremner (51) putting on 51 for the 4th wicket. Jai Sinclair strode to the wicket when Melia was dismissed, and began hitting the ball powerfully, racing to 70* in just 42 balls. Sinclair and Bremner put on an unbeaten 102 for the 5th wicket, enabling WKBCC to reach a good score of 4/232 in their 50 overs. Pinjarra came out firing with the bat, Stefan Botha (1/31 off 4) and Mitch Brown (1/40 off 4) bearing the brunt of the Pinjarra openers’ assualt. The momentum began to shift when both Pinjarra openers were dismissed; WKBCC then begun to apply some serious pressure to the rest of the Pinjarra batting order. Thanks chiefly to superb spells from Pete Russell (1/9 off 10) and Ben Merrifield (2/18 off 8 overs) Pinjarra were bowled out for 162 in 41.1 overs, losing their 5 wickets for just 12 runs. Tousif Miran (2/33 off 10) and Ben Sharp (2/24 off 5.1) chimed in with a couple of wickets each. A grade’s third straight win sees them consolidate 2nd place on the A grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: JAI SINCLAIR B Grade: Round 2 v Pinjarra @ Sir Ross McLarty Park The WKBCC B grade team took on Pinjarra for their first away game of the season. WKBCC was able to notch up their first win of the season; winning by 151 runs. WKBCC won the toss and chose to bat first. A number of WKBCC top order batsmen made starts, but only Gavin Clothier (23) was able to pass 20. At 5/91, WKBCC were in trouble, but returning player Tom Lewis (50) and Jordan Sprigg (43) were able to stage a recovery, putting on 71 for the 8th wicket. This saw WKBCC recover to 221 all out off their 50 overs. Pinjarra never looked like getting close to the WKBCC, being dismissed for just 70, in 25.2 overs. Shaun Lynn (6/33 off 10) was the main destroyer for WKBCC, and he was well supported by Matt Jordan (3/19 off 7), with Jordan Sprigg (1/10 off 5.2) chipping in with a wicket of his own. The win moves the WKBCC B grade team into 3rd place. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: SHAUN LYNN C Grade: Round 2 v Hillman @ Eighty Road The WKBCC were hoping to pick up their second successive win, against Hillman at home. They were able to do so; winning by four wickets in a close game. WKBCC lost the toss and bowled first. In a good performance by the WKBCC bowlers, Hillman were dismissed for 123. The WKBCC cause was spearheaded by Brad Miles (5/30 off 9), and he had good support from Matt White (2/26 off 9) and Dylan Yeomans (1/20 off 7), and Chris Klau (1/0 off 0.4) chipped in with a wicket of his own. WKBCC lost wickets regularly when they batted, and despite a fighting knock from Chris Hughes (43), WKBCC were 6/96 and the game looked like coming right down to the wire. Nick Pavlovic made short work of the remaining runs by blasting his way to 21 and carried his team over the line in the process. The win currently leaves the WKBCC C grade side in 3rd spot. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: BRAD MILES D Grade: v North Baldivis @ Wellard PS The WKBCC D grade side took on North Baldivis in the first ‘Baldivis Derby’ of the 2020-2021 season. In a game which was closer than that the scores suggested, WKBCC went down by 56 runs. WKBCC won the toss and chose to bat first. A number of WKBCC players made it into double figures, but only Chris Pearson (34) passed 15, and WKBCC were bowled out for 129; extras being the second highest score with 22 of the being scored. WKBCC bowled well, and took wickets at regular intervals, but a century from one of the North Baldivis openers saw them comfortably pass the WKBCC total, eventually finishing up on 8/185 off their 45 overs. Luke Gray was the pick of the bowlers with 2/25 off his 9 overs; Andrew Smart (2/31 off 9) and Chris Ramsay (2/42 off 9) also claimed two wickets each. WKBCC D grade co-captain Aidan Slomp (1/24 off 4) and Luke Green (1/29 off 6) picked up a wicket each. The loss sees the WKBCC D Grade slip down to 3rd. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: LUKE GRAY E Grade: Round 2 v Hillman @ Shoalwater Oval The WKBCC E grade team looked to back up their win last time out with a second one in succession; against Hillman at their home ground. In another good all-round performance, WKBCC won by 61 runs. WKBCC lost the toss and were put in to bowl first. A good bowling effort by WKBCC, spearheaded by Mark Haskell (4/12 off 8 overs) saw Hillman get bowled out for 116. E grade co-captain Aidan O’Brien (2/26 off 5) provided solid support for Haskell, and Rod Graham (1/14 off 5.4), Matt Duggan (1/27 off 5) and returning player Russell Hawkins (1/21 off 6) each claimed one wicket apiece. Eli McIntosh (0/16 off 8 overs), though wicketless, put the Hillman batsmen under relentless pressure and allowed the other WKBCC bowlers to attack. O’Brien’s co-captain Jason Youlden (77) and Jacob Gabba (25) got the WKBCC innings off to a good start with a half-century opening stand, and despite the loss of Mat McKenzie (12) and Scott Snashall (0) in quick succession, Youlden and Nathan Thomas (41) got WKBCC over the line comfortably, putting on a quick 70 run partnership for the 4th wicket, and dragging the WKBCC score to 5/177 at the conclusion of their 40 overs. This win sees WKBCC’s E grade team hold 2nd spot on the E grade ladder. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: MARK HASKELL F Grade: Round 2 v Hillman @ Baldivis HS The WKBCC F grade side looked to put last week’s loss behind them when they took on Hillman at home. In a dominant performance, WKBCC won by 121 runs. WKBCC lost the toss and bowled first, but an inspired bowling effort, led by Simon Grobbelaar (5/9 off 5) saw Hillman skittled for just 58. Grobbelaar was well supported by the other WKBCC bowlers, with John Freemantle (1/20 off 6), Braydon Haskell (1/4 off 4), Jamie Briggs (1/7 off 2.3) and captain Nick Rust (2/15 off 4) all chipping in with wickets of their own. Ray Goddard (25) and Pete Kenyon (23) batted well early on for WKBCC, doing the hard yards and seeing their side over the line for the win. When they were dismissed, Tom Fraser (55) and Reid Stewart (33) played with freedom, putting on a quick 58 run partnership for the 7th wicket, which saw WKBCC reach 8/179 off their 40 overs. This win moves WKBCC’s F grade team into 5th place. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: SIMON GROBBELAAR WKBCC Ladies: Round 3 v Halls Head @ Peelwood Reserve The WKBCC ladies team travelled to Halls Head hoping to claim another win after their game was washed out last weekend. In a game which came down to the wire, WKBCC lost by just 8 runs. WKBCC won the toss, and elected to send Halls Head into bat. A reasonable stint with the ball saw Halls Head make 2/112 off their 16 overs. Michelle Artemis (2/2 off 2) bowled superbly, taking both wickets and generally keeping things tight with the ball. Nakita Toia (0/4 off 2) and Mel Rawles (0/9 off 2) also bowled well and kept things tight. Nakita (26) top scored for WKBCC in their quest to chase down the Halls Head total, and she was supported well by Stacey Bycroft and Michelle Artemis (both scored 16 runs), but Halls Head were able to restrict WKBCC to 2/108 off their 16 overs. PLAYER OF THE MATCH: MICHELLE ARTEMIS

05.01.2022 PEEL PREMIER LEAGUE T20: White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club v Secret Harbour Dockers Cricket Club The White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club and the Secret Harbo...ur Dockers Cricket Club clashed in the Peel Premier League T20 competition, at Peelwood Reserve on Tuesday night. Baldivis won the toss and elected to bat first. Jai Sinclair got Baldivis off to a good start, with 17 runs being taken off Jake Mayes’ 1st over. Despite the early dismissal of Wesley Steele for 10 by Kai Bartusch, Sinclair kept hitting the ball powerfully, and he and Eric Botha, who was scoring in a similar fashion, put on a rapid-fire 55 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Kyle Jeffrey managed to briefly slow Baldivis’ momentum by dismissing Sinclair (46) and Lachlan Pratt (0) in consecutive deliveries. However, despite the two quick wickets falling, Eric Botha continued to score quickly and freely, reaching his 50 in just 20 balls, and combining with Tom Lewis to score 56 for the 4th wicket. Daniel Carne stepped up with the ball for Secret Harbour, dismissing Eric Botha for 60, and dismissing his brother Stefan for 7 soon afterwards. When Carne dismissed Lewis for 37, Baldivis had lost 3/29, and had gone from 3/147 to 6/176 with just a few overs to go. Ben Merrifield was able to make good use of the final few overs, scoring 32 off 22 balls and helping Baldivis reach 7/216 off their 20 overs, a total which looked to be near-unassailable. WHITE KNIGHTS BALDIVIS: 7/216 (20 OVERS) E.BOTHA 60 (26) J.SINCLAIR 46 (17) D.CARNE 3/27 (4) K.JEFFREY 2/34 (4) Jack McClay and Kody Smith got Secret Harbour off to a reasonable start, putting on 20 for the opening wicket in the face of some good bowling from Eric Botha and Lachlan Pratt. The loss of McClay and Daniel Carne put Secret Harbour further behind in the equation, and even though Smith and Secret Harbour captain Zac Jarrett took the Secret Harbour score to 50, the required run rate had steadily risen to and beyond 15 runs per over, in part to Tousif Miran’s spell of 1/8 off 4 overs, including 2 maiden overs. Once Smith was dismissed for 25, the remainder of Secret Harbour’s batting lineup collapsed, losing 7/32 and were bowled out for 82 as a result. Brad Miles did the bulk of the damage, running through the Secret Harbour lower order to take 4/14. Mitch Brown contributed to the carnage with two wickets of his own. SECRET HARBOUR: 82 ALL OUT (15.3 OVERS) K.SMITH 25 (31) J.MCCLAY 17 (14) B.MILES 4/14 (1.3) M.BROWN 2/9 (2)

Kwinana did hold the upper hand, but an inspired display of bowling from WKBCC saw Kwinana restricted to 7/90 off their 30 overs. Hayden Sofield (1/4 off 3) and Alex Hughes (2/11 off 3) capped off good personal days by claiming three wickets between them, and Ronan Masterson (1/9 off 2) and Marcel Bunce (1/5 off 3) chipped in with wickets of their own.
