07.01.2022 This is a little cliche but it is tough to be in an indie band. A lotta those nights when youd love to be curled up in front of the Tele, youre out there hustlin, luggin gear, buying gear, backing up a hangover. And indie bands dont make money. Good venues give you some money and beer to cover costs, but ultimately it costs money and a lot of time. Theres a few things that make it all worthwhile though, and keep you playin even when youre in your 30s, have a family, work... at 8am. One of those is the freedom. Art is a place where you can be totally free, exactly the motherfucker you are no matter how crazy that is. Its a beautiful thing. The other reason is love. Indie music is a community of love. Everyone there is doin it for love, one way or another. Everyone you meet from the bar to the stage is nice. Even the cranky sound dude loves that shit. And when you see your friends or fam jamming; one goddamn foot tapping, one lip mumblin, well there is just so much love in that! Youre all parts of a big old machine generating pure goddamn love energy out into the world. Anyway what I wanted to say is that Matt is having another beautiful baby child very soon and so this Halloween gig will be our last one for a while. Love you
