25.01.2022 Due to the Private Health Insurance reforms, pilates sessions are now to be referred to as ‘physiotherapy exercise treatment’. Clients will continue to remain eligible for physiotherapy rebates for attending these sessions.

24.01.2022 Bob didnt want to have knee surgery, so he called a physical therapist instead. In many cases you can avoid surgery when you see a physical therapist first.

24.01.2022 Christmas trading: Clinic closed 18 Dec - 1 Jan. Reduced opening hours 2 - 26 Jan, appointments available Tue, Wed & Fri. Regular opening hours from 28 Jan. ... Have a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!

24.01.2022 Telehealth appointments are now available. Physiotherapists are trained manual therapists, but we also excel at assessment, clinical reasoning, offering advice on self management strategies and exercise prescription. Whilst we cannot offer our usual full repertoire of treatment techniques without face to face contact, we can draw on our professional skills to help patients over telehealth (video link up) for many presentations. ... This transition has been sudden and not particularly easy, with software integration, webinars and consultation with colleagues in the industry to rapidly upskill. In the circumstances we face over the next few months, it has been a decision to offer this service to our existing and new clients so that we can look after the health of our community as best possible. Important information: Set up is really easy with a link sent by email and just requires a PC, tablet or even smart phone to join in at your scheduled appointment time. A private space is required for a consultation with wifi or mobile data connection - remember you may need to expose affected body parts, and you may need to perform assessment activities or exercises. WA workers compensation clients with approved claims are covered for telehealth physiotherapy appointments. Private Health Insurers will offer rebate for telehealth physio appointments after 14 April. There may be requirements for different health funds so please check first. Payment for your appointment must be made in full and lodged with private health insurer for your rebate. Cost: $75 ($80 for first/initial appointment). Expect appointments to take 30-45 minutes for a followup appointment, up to 60 minutes for an initial appointment. Payment is required prior to your consultation. This can be done online at the time of booking if doing an online booking; over the phone; or when you first dial in to your appointment. Our practice management software provider is working hard to get online payments up and going for if not booked online. At this stage with public holidays, my 3 children at home and an unknown demand, appointment availability is irregular, but our phone is manned M-F 8.30-5.00 by reception who have diary access, and online bookings via the link on our FB page will show when there is appointment times. Please email [email protected] to contact me directly with any questions. Lisa Russ Principal Physiotherapist

23.01.2022 WA has done a great job in controlling coronavirus, and with no cases in the Kimberley and our borders remaining closed, West Kimberley Physiotherapy is reopening for face to face appointments commencing Monday 4th. This includes 1:1 exercise therapy (including pilates), or 2 patients simultaneously, only if they are from the same household. Telehealth with video link ups between practitioner and patients has been embraced by the government, private health insurers, physioth...erapists and patients and has a great place for clients that require rehab, exercise therapy or injury specific advice. This service will continue and is encouraged for anyone who wishes to maintain distancing. Our efforts to maintain the highest possible standards of infection control include: - Additional short breaks between patient appointments to enable adequate cleaning and minimise patient waiting time. - We will not use any bed linen to enable adequate cleaning, if you wish to bring your own clean towel for comfort, that is acceptable. Single use pillow covers will be used when required. - Hand sanitiser is provided and requested to be used as soon as you enter the clinic. - Your physiotherapist will be implementing regular hand washing or sanitising before and after any direct contact with you. They also have gloves available to use at their discretion or your request. - No cash payments will be accepted. - No children (unless they are the patient) will be permitted to enter the clinic with a parent who is receiving treatment. Please do not attend for an appointment if you have any signs of respiratory illness such as fever, cough, runny nose or shortness of breath. Any concerns or queries can be directed to [email protected], and our reception staff can take any bookings or messages 8.30 - 5.00, Monday to Friday on 9191 2122.

18.01.2022 Telehealth physiotherapy appointments will be covered by Workcover WA (approved workers compensation) and for those on a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan. Private Health Funds are in the process of rolling them out. It may be worthwhile a quick phone call to your private Health Fund to check their current status. This week patients will be contacted as we endeavour to set up for this process as quickly as possible.

08.01.2022 Teaming up with newly implemented telehealth facilities to have a fun co-consultation and second opinion on a patient from my good friend and mentor, Brett Slocombe from Cottesloe Sports Physiotherapy. Bretts a multiple Olympic and World Championships physio for the Australian Swimming and Kayaking teams, and is a bit of a physio guru. Feedback was all positive from our client on how well the telehealth link up worked. It doesnt have to be all hands on to make a difference!

05.01.2022 A sad farewell and big thank you to Vandana Thavare who tomorrow heads off to Alice Springs to further her career. I knew she would be perfect in the aged care physio role and providing support at the clinic, and shes done a tremendous job! Best wishes Van.

01.01.2022 Looking for feedback on how people would feel about ways we can reduce our environmental footprint within the clinic and not feel that quality standards are compromised: Eliminate single use face sheets? And just clean between with a cloth and natural based cleaning spray? Or face towels for each patient (which then means extra washing)? Verbal informed consent documented on electronic notes, and give away with scanning and shredding paper? ... Recycling those pesky little plastic guide tubes from needles is certainly going to happen! Any other ideas welcome.
