06.01.2022 2020 Craig Roseneder Award finalist Phil Cook is Workshop Manager at Whiteline Transport. Phil is an extremely dedicated and effective manager, in constant cont...act with drivers who are travelling one of the most challenging and remote routes the Nullabor to Perth. Phil is often required to diagnose on-road issues over the phone and determine whether a driver can be talked through a fix or if a call-out is needed. Over the past 12 months Phil has been instrumental in a major refurbishment of the Whiteline Transport Adelaide workshop and is always looking for ways to improve safety and productivity. 03.01.2022 Birds of a feather stick together!! Whiteliners Mal and Paul meet once a week 70 kilometres West of Caiguna: Paul on his way home from Perth, Mal heading to the West. They have a family of magpies that watch and wait for them both to pull in with a feed of mince. Got a visual, Mal pulls up, gets down from the truck, does his tyre check with a baby magpie walking around with him waiting for a feed they fly up from the ground to the seat of the truck to take the food from the...ir hands. Sometimes the magpie family are challenged by a minor bird and large Crows, but the boys try to keep the feed to the Magpie family. One trip, Mal recalls only having camp pie not the usual mince they were satisfied - then one other trip Mal didn’t have anything at all. Apparantely, the Magpie flew up onto the driver truck mirror to look inside the cab to see if Mal was being truthful!! Whiteline Transport makes friends wherever we go!
