25.01.2022 The end result of a GREAT project, thanks to everyone who gave so willingly of their time, it's what makes being a Lion so GOOD!

24.01.2022 On Wednesday the 2nd of December, our club was able to have it's Christmas dinner at Victoria Rose Tea rooms in Rosedale. The evening started with the induction of our newest member into the Lions family, Julie Wynn. it was great to FINALLY formalize her membership into our club, the induction ceremony was ably conducted by our 1st Vice District Governor Steven Boyce. We broke into the festivities between the main course and dessert to hold our much delayed AGM. It was a fantastic evening and it was great to see almost all members attend. Sadly Lions Kevin and Barbara Morgan were unable to be with us due to ill health. We wish all LIONS every where the compliments of the season and hopefully 2021 won't be as difficult as this year has been.

23.01.2022 Come join us for one of our great BBQ's at Woolies in Traralgon this Saturday from 9.00 am onwards. On the menu will be our World Famous Bacon and Egg sandwiches as well as the good old snag in bread with or without onions, Sauce to your liking, come for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Come and say hello. We now have touch and go EFTPOS payment facilities as well. This will of course be a COVID safe function.

21.01.2022 ANZAC DAY 2020. At 6.30 am the flag was raised at the Mechanics Hall in Toongabbie, then at 9.30 am, President Peter and Lion Bev placed a wreath on the club's behalf at the Glengarry Cenotaph, Despite all official functions being cancelled due to COVID-19 we DID remember them LEST WE FORGET!

19.01.2022 Despite our club being in recess due to this blasted virus, if you are elderly, disabled or have a need, please contact the club and we'll do our best to figure out a way to assist you. Stay safe every one, if we all work together and respect each other we WILL get through this.

17.01.2022 LIONS CLUB OF WELLINGTON / LATROBE INC A SHORT UP-DATE ON CLUB HAPPENINGS. Dear members. First of all, I hope and trust that we are all staying well, I kn...ow it’s a very difficult time, but sadly SUCH IS LIFE and I know that we as Lions will cope with the restrictions and still look for ways to serve our community!! Recently, we were informed (at very short notice) that there may be a grant available to replace our aging BBQ Gazebo, though we only had a matter of days, after consulting with Treasurer Joy, we made the decision to lodge a submission, this is through the Victorian Gov Sun Smart program. If we are successful, the result will be a brand-new Marquee, with a Lions Logo on all for top faces and signwriting on all four side panels, the Marquee is 3 x 3 metres. The total cost to the club would be around $185.00. Though there was not enough time to consult all of our members, please take this letter as consultation, if you are NOT happy for us to proceed, please ring your President 0418825011 and it’s not too late to call this project off if you decide we don’t want it. Our old BBQ Gazebo is much the worst for wear and has always been notoriously difficult to erect, so hopefully, when we can BBQ again, this will make it a little easier, PLEASE do let me know your thoughts. DEFIBRILLATOR Also by now, our Defibrillator project at the Toongabbie General Store has been completed, a suitable cabinet was sourced and delivered to the shop and it’s now up to the shop owners to install the Defibrillator in a suitable position, for all practical purposes, this ends our involvement except for the long term eventual replacement of pads and batteries. I’m also happy to be able to report that on a personal matter, my right reverse fulcrum full shoulder replacement seems to have been a great success, I now have much less pain and I am slowly regaining more and more use of the arm ZOOM! There is more and more really interesting stuff coming through from District 201V3, As such a having a coffee or a wine and getting together on Zoom for a general chit chat, the same thing for some nice coffee mornings and recently Di and I joined them for a really fun and interesting TRIVIA night. If you’d like to join in, let me know and I’ll forward the links to you, all you need is to have ZOOM installed on your PC, I’d be more than happy to install it for you if you need a hand, it’s easy and it’s a lot of fun to join with our fellow district Lions, please let me know. Plants for Mallacoota The plants for Mallacoota project is alive and well and plants are enjoying the slightly warmer weather, we have lost some due to frost bite etc, but Di seems to have had about an 80% success rate, once COVID eases, we will work on getting the plants onto Mallacoota, I’m sure they will be most welcome there. CHRISTMAS CAKES Our cake chairman Lion Kevin Morgan and Treasurer Joy have consulted each other and have made a decision to order a slightly smaller amount of cakes this year, again with COVID we simply don’t know what’s going to happen at this stage. CHRISTMAS WHEELBARROW RAFFLE Again, with the COVID restrictions, after much thought and agonising, I simply don’t think that it’s going to be viable for us to run our usual raffle this year, however, I’d appreciate your thoughts, please contact me and let me know what YOU think. Sadly, even our usual Carols in the hall and free community sausage sizzle is in great doubt, even AUSTRALIA Day celebrations are doubtful just now, I’ll keep you all informed if there are any developments one way or the other. Yours in Lionism. President/Secretary Peter See more

17.01.2022 ALMOST THERE. The club is in the process of putting the finishing touches to this great little project, once installed at the Toongabbie General store, it most certainly has live saving potential, but I for one sincerely hope that this is one thing that will NEVER need to be used, very reassuring to have it there though!

The wooden Display Box where... it will be housed, has been kindly made by the Toongabbie Men's Shed. The defibrillator has been a joint effort with Wellington /Latrobe Lions Club and Heyfield & District Community Bank contributing $1795.65, investing funds back into the local Community. The Toongabbie General Store is open 7am - 8pm weekdays weekends and public Holidays. 15.01.2022 It's with a great deal of sadness that due to the Corona Virus risk, this Lions club has made the difficult decision to shut down our twice monthly fundraising BBQ'S at Woolworth's in Traralgon. We will of course resume as soon as possible.

15.01.2022 Have a look at this picture, you will see where the funds that you have donated to Lions are being utilized, THANK YOU, to all who have donated to the various Lions disaster relief appeals. Please don't forget, that despite the Corona Virus emergency, the need for relief following the terrible recent fires has not gone away and we need to continue our support!

08.01.2022 PLANTS FOR MALLACOOTA PROJECT Here's some pics of the plants our club members have grown for Mallacoota, this has been such a great project, THANK you to all who have worked so hard to make this happen, hopefully the plants will be on their way VERY shortly

07.01.2022 Sadly due to the ongoing uncertainties of the COVID - 19 Pandemic, we've reluctantly had to postpone our July Dinner/Induction meeting from the 1st of July to Wednesday the 5th of August.

05.01.2022 For those of you who might like to make a donation, please rest assured that any funds donated WILL be sent where needed ASAP

05.01.2022 If you can possibly find the time, go and support this great cause.

04.01.2022 PLANTS FOR MALLACOOTA PROJECT I'm delighted to be able to inform you that our plants for Mallacoota will be on their way and will be arriving in Mallacoota this coming Thursday. Courtney Cartage. from Nambrok have given us a very special price to pick plants up from Toongabbie and deliver them to Mallacoota, Thank you Mick and Fiona from Courtney Cartage much appreciated.

02.01.2022 During the COVID - 19 shutdown, one of the projects our club started was to get a publicly available Defibrillator for the township of Toongabbie. I'm pleased to be able to share with you that the wonderful people at the HEYFIELD & DISTRICT COMMUNITY BANK have given their support to this project with a substantial donation. We thank them greatly for their generosity and all going well, the new Defibrillator will be installed at the Toongabbie General Store in the very near future. Please give your support to the Heyfield & District Community bank whenever you can. Support those who support YOU!!

02.01.2022 We are very pleased to share with you all, that we have been successful with getting a grant from the Wonderful DYSON group of $400.00. This money will be used to replace our long suffering and hardworking printer. We as Lions often get called upon by other small community groups to assist with doing a bit of printing for them, things such as newspaper insert flyers etc etc. This very useful grant will enable us to not only do our own printing, but also we will continue to be able to assist with small community printing where needs be. THANK YOU DYSON!

02.01.2022 ANZAC DAY 2020!

01.01.2022 Our club has started a great new project "GARDEN PLANTS FOR MALLACOOTA" this project is now well underway with much potting going on and a wonderful donation by Bunnings at Sale of a whole pallet of potting mix and 300 pots to go with it. In due course, once the plants are sufficiently established, they will be taken to Mallacoota to be distributed as needed by the Lions Club of Mallacoota, It's a great way for our members to be doing some community service during these difficult times. Thanks to Dianne Feenstra for coming up with this wonderful idea and getting the ball rolling
