23.01.2022 WML completed a design late last year for the infill of the Lake Kepwari diversion drain which required approx. 540 000 m3 of fill. The channel was approx. 2.4km long with the deepest section being approx. 14m deep and 60m wide which required filling as part of Premier Coal’s agreement to restore the area. The channel was originally constructed to divert the Collie River around the mine site. The Collie River now flows on its original course into Lake Kepwari. We received some great video clips taken by the Premier Coal during the late stages of the construction, which display the large scale of the project.

23.01.2022 WML has provided technical services to identify suitable pavement materials, the pavement construction specification and seal design for the Koolan Island Airstrip located beside the mine site and the ocean.

21.01.2022 WML were engaged by CipherTel to provide structural design services for a communications tower and concrete base including connections into the existing rock located in Kununurra. Due to the undulating terrain, a helicopter was required to complete the installation.

21.01.2022 The restoration works of the Arrol Crane at the end of Jetty Road involves a complete disassembly, replace/repair damaged or corroded elements, full clean and paint job and reassemble. A fantastic project to be apart of. WML have undertaken inspections, prepared reports, developed the scope of works for tender and are currently inspecting the works as they proceed. It will be the jewel at the end of Jetty Road when it is opened in November. The manufacturer William Arrol was... one of the great innovators of the Victorian age. This is the only Arrol crane of its type in Australia. https://www.bunburymail.com.au//bunbury-waterfront-attrac/ #localbusiness #bunbury #westernaustralia #engineers #WML #structuralengineering #structuraldesign

20.01.2022 A number of years ago, WML designed two Osprey Nests located at Koombana Park. The idea for the Osprey Nests came from Newton Moore Senior High School, monitoring the behaviour of the Ospreys and their offspring forms part of the Environmental Science program in the school. Newton Moore pulled together a number of local businesses to install the two new nests. This included WML who designed the poles, nest structures and footings. Last week, there was an Osprey with chicks in the nests. The photos were captured by our Senior Engineering Technologist Tom Bond, as he enjoyed a walk in the park.

20.01.2022 WML undertook geotechnical investigation, analysis and design for three crane pads on difficult ground consisting of soft alluvial deposits and steep river banks. The investigation consisted of about 12 CPT’s, we designed the temporary lifting pads utilising ultra-strong (1000kN) geofabric to provide the bearing capacity and global slope stability for the 750T, 450T and 300T cranes performing the bridge lifts to replace the aging rail bridges. We also provided supervision/quality assurance certification of the pads during the construction phase. https://youtu.be/3T4tXj_TnS4

19.01.2022 The Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge Project is targeted at reducing congestion around the Cockburn Central Activity Centre, along with improving efficiency of the strategic Armadale Road freight route. The project involves creation of a four-lane dual carriageway extension of Armadale Road to North Lake Road, over the Kwinana Freeway. New grade separated roundabouts are to be provided at Solomon Road/Beeliar Drive (renamed from Armadale Road) and Tapper Road/Verde Dr...ive intersections, with collector-distributor (CD) roads each side of Armadale Road for local access. A southbound CD road from Berrigan Drive to Beeliar Drive and additional northern access ramps from Armadale Road to the Kwinana Freeway. The Armadale Access Alliance (AAA) requested WML Consultants to provide granular and full depth asphalt pavement designs for the total project, including Public Transport Authority car park and associated city of Cockburn access roads for the Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge Project. 17.01.2022 Couldn't help but share these wonderful photos of a bridge lift WML were involved in up in Koodaideri, placing a rail over rail bridge using a 750T crane. Over 1000 kPa ground pressure exerted. WML designed and certified the lift mat.

15.01.2022 Taking engineering to new heights. Our Civil/Structural Designer in our Kalgoorlie Office, has completed his first solo flight! A personal accomplishment of Eugene's. Well done Eugene!!

15.01.2022 We recently completed the detailed structural design and documentation for the CSBP new shed opening for truck delivery. WML initially provided concept design options based on the client’s brief and operational requirements, followed by detailed design, provision of a construction cost estimate, contract and construction management to completion. The design phase provided some challenges due to the age and unique shape of the existing structures. Our designs have now come to fruition.

14.01.2022 WML definitely made a "standout" appearance this year at the IPWEA Annual Country Meeting and Gala in Albany. To attend the Gala, the theme was "Superheros". Our WML green was used to create our WML Superhero outfits. . . . BIG shout out to our Director Tinus Kruger and our Marketing Development Manager Keith Palmer for being our WML superheros and donning the green attire.

02.01.2022 As part of the Pinjarra Town Square re-vitalisation efforts, the Shire of Murray engaged WML to produce alternative proposals for the refurbishment of the existing suspension bridge. It was originally constructed in 1985 by the 22nd Construction Regiment (renamed 22nd Engineer Regiment in 2013), Royal Australian Engineers, Australian Army. There is a desire for improving public accessibility and visual appeal through lighting whilst remaining true to the existing bridge aesthetic. These images were produced for Council to consider and for the public consultation as we move into the design phase.
