In the last 24 months, WMYAC has invested over $3Million into: Supporting our members 5 Mile Community upgrade Yindji-Barni Art Centre Big Hart... Lore & Culture Community sporting and religious sponsorships Employment and Training opportunities WMYAC is proud to be the only self-funded Aboriginal organisation in our Community. All of our profits come from operating successful business contracts. We receive no royalties. Our Elders; Members; and the wider Community, should be proud of our self-determination.

23.01.2022 We look forward to sharing our reports for the 2018/19 Financial year with our Members. We are very proud of the hard work and support that WMYAC has provided over the past year. Please note that there has been a venue change. Our AGM will be held at the 50c Hall. If members have questions prior to the AGM, you are most welcome to visit our office for a yarn. We look forward to sharing this day with our Members.

23.01.2022 Social distancing guidance What is social distancing and why is it important? Social distancing includes ways to stop or slow the spread of infectious disea...ses. It means less contact between you and other people. Social distancing is important because COVID-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person. through: direct close contact with a person while they are infectious or in the 24 hours before their symptoms appeared close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face. So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. What can I do? If you are sick, stay away from others that is the most important thing you can do. You should also practise good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene: wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser, and if unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 metres from people). As well as these, you can start a range of social distancing and low cost hygiene actions now. These simple, common sense actions help reduce risk to you and to others. They will help to slow the spread of disease in the community and you can use them every day in your home, workplace, school and while out in public.

22.01.2022 Well done #Roebourne #Family. Great achievement for each of you and your families. All the best going forward with your bright futures.

20.01.2022 WirluMurra is proud to provide our support to the Community through making donations to the Roebourne Mens Program and the Roebourne Womens Program. We recognise the important work that these Programs provide to our local Aboriginal Community.

19.01.2022 Please do the right thing. This is very serious.

18.01.2022 This is our WA COVID-19 update for Wednesday 18th March 2020. Our regular public updates include up-to-date information, current advice and tips on how to bette...r protect yourself. It is important people are well informed on the virus, so as new information or advice becomes available we will share it. ---- - Current cases - With over 450 additional tests completed since yesterdays update, there have been four additional cases of COVID-19 detected in Western Australia. At this time we can confirm three of the cases recently returned from overseas the UK, Indonesia and Austria. The source of transmission for the fourth new case is being investigated, with the Department undertaking thorough contact tracing. We will provide details on that case once they are confirmed. Weve now completed over 7,000 tests in Western Australia and uncovered 35 cases, the remaining tests all returning negative results. Aside from the new case which remains under investigation, all current cases relate to people travelling outside the State or family members who have recently been overseas, and are all based in the Perth metropolitan area. One patient, who was in a stable condition in hospital with COVID-19, has been discharged and has now fully recovered. ---- - Mass gatherings - Today, based on the latest medical advice, an immediate ban on indoor non-essential gatherings of more than 100 people is now in place, in addition to the ban on all non-essential mass gatherings of more than 500 people. This includes, among other things, many hospitality businesses which will now need to restrict capacity. There are exceptions that include healthcare facilities, public transport, emergency service facilities, prisons, childcare centres, supermarkets, construction and mining sites, office buildings and schools. As always, all Western Australians should be exercising good personal hygiene and social distancing - washing your hands regularly, avoiding unnecessary personal contact and keeping 1.5 metres away from others wherever possible. ---- - Schools - The official medical advice is clear - closing schools is not currently recommended for Australia. There is no medical evidence that indicates closing schools helps to slow the spread of COVID-19. If schools close, many families would have to leave their children in the care of grandparents, who are most at risk. It would also have a massive effect on our front-line health workers, many of whom would have to stop working to care for their children. If there is a need to temporarily close a school down - we will do that. However, prematurely closing all schools could do much more harm than good. Thank you to all staff at our schools for their important service at this challenging time. ---- - Aged care - The National Cabinet has agreed to a number of measures to protect and support elderly Australians. There will now be restrictions on visitors to residential aged care facilities. Anyone who has been overseas or in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 within a fortnight will be banned from visiting aged care homes. Aged care residents will only be able to receive one visit a day, with a maximum of two people visiting. We ask all regular visitors and staff to be extremely vigilant and take every precaution. ---- - Travel advice - Australians are now advised NOT to travel overseas. Level four advice is now in place for EVERY overseas country, this is the first time this has ever happened. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is also advising all Australians overseas who intend to come home to do so immediately. Western Australians should only travel interstate if it is absolutely essential. Were also looking to restrict all non-essential travel to WAs remote Aboriginal communities, who are especially vulnerable. Anyone arriving in Australia from overseas will to be forced to self-isolate for 14 days. International cruise ships will also be banned from docking in Australia for at least 30 days. ---- - State Emergency Declaration - A State of Emergency and a Public Health Emergency has been declared for Western Australia. These declarations provide the State Government, the WA Police Force and the Chief Health Officer with the powers and flexibility they need to enforce quarantine and self-isolation measures, as was agreed at the National Cabinet meeting between the Prime Minister, State Premiers and Chief Ministers. We will be using powers under the Public Health Act and Emergency Management Act to enforce the new rules regarding self-isolation of travellers, cruise ships and organised gatherings. Penalties of up to $50,000 will apply. Anyone entering or returning to Australia from overseas are required to self-isolate for 14 days after arrival. They are required to go straight to their home or accommodation and remain there for the full 14 day period, with the exception of seeking medical assistance if necessary. Western Australians who are aware of someone breaching a requirement to self-isolate - please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or WA Police on 131 444. These are precautionary steps in the best interests of our community. The decision does not mean schools, universities, public transport or airports will need to close. Our State pandemic plan outlines options that can be exercised - should we need to go down that path. ---- - Testing and COVID clinics - Due to a national shortage and high-demand for testing, weve adjusted the requirements to be tested for COVID-19 at this time - which will bring Western Australia in line with other Australian jurisdictions. This is due to a global shortage of the chemical reagent required for laboratory testing and follows deliberations at the Council of Australian Governments meeting. This new testing criteria will ensure testing of high-risk patients can occur at the height of the expected pandemic. Effective immediately, COVID-19 testing in WA will only be available to individuals who: 1. Have fever (temperature of 37.5 deg or above) or respiratory illness AND 2. Can provide evidence of recent overseas travel (for example, airline ticket or passport stamp) OR have had close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case OR are a health or aged care worker, with direct patient contact. All COVID-19 testing in the metropolitan area will be performed only at the three COVID clinics, which are operational between the hours of 8am-8pm, 7 days a week. They are based at Royal Perth Hospital (Ground Floor, Ainslie House, 48 Murray Street), Fiona Stanley Hospital (Allied Health 2, Gymnasiums, East End, Bedbrook Row) and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (C Block, Hospital Avenue). A new COVID clinic will open in Bunbury tomorrow on Thursday 19/3/2020 and will operate 10am - 4pm every day. In regional areas, people should go to a public hospital, health service or remote health clinic. Please call ahead if you are concerned that you have contracted COVID-19. Patients at COVID clinics are required to bring proof of recent travel or identify the confirmed case they have been in contact with. The criteria for testing will be updated according to changes in the disease pattern in WA. Patients will be screened and where appropriate tested, provided with appropriate information and referred for further medical treatment if necessary. If people do not meet the criteria they will not be tested. Those individuals who are tested and well enough, will be asked to self-isolate while they await test results. Anyone who is confirmed to have coronavirus, who does not require hospitalisation will be asked to stay in home isolation as instructed by the public health team. It is also extremely important that people who are unwell and are concerned they have COVID-19 should immediately self-isolate and then seek further medical advice. More locations for COVID clinics across the metropolitan area and in regional WA will be considered if there is a need to meet future or increased demand. ---- We are preparing and taking every precaution to protect Western Australia from COVID-19. The Western Australian health system and our hospitals are very well prepared to manage infectious disease situations and have well established systems and processes in place. The WA Governments Pandemic Plan has been updated to respond to COVID-19, and it is now publically available. You can see the plan for yourself at https://www.wa.gov.au/covid19 under WA Government Response. The State Government is taking this very seriously and we need to be prepared for a pandemic. Every action we take and decision we make is to protect Western Australians. We have already taken action with a suite of measures to prepare the State for the possibility of a pandemic. Western Australians should be going about their business as usual. It is important that we remain calm and use common sense. The best thing we can do to protect ourselves is quality personal hygiene and exercise social distancing by avoiding unnecessary personal contact. That includes covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often with soap or sanitiser, staying home from work or school if unwell, avoiding shaking hands or hugging, and maintaining distance from others in public. Please also continue to follow the advice of authorities and doctors - anyone who is instructed to self-isolate must take the request seriously, stay home and not put others at risk. This means you dont leave your property, you dont go to work or school, you dont go on outings and you dont have visitors - only leave the house to seek medical attention. People simply need to be aware, observe good health and make sure they have accurate information, from credible sources. ---- Official information regarding COVID-19 in Western Australia - www.wa.gov.au/covid19 WA Department of Health information www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus Coronavirus information hotline 1800 020 080 Smartraveller information regarding travel advice for Australians - www.smartraveller.gov.au
