22.01.2022 Skippers, you don’t want to have a ruff time on the water. Always make sure your furmily is as safe as pawsible if things go wrong. You'd be barking mad not to ...have a lifejacket for everyone on board and know how to fetch them. For more information, visit our website: https://bit.ly/2SUY3rd #MaritimeSafetyQld #SeriouslyCute

21.01.2022 Take care everyone

09.01.2022 Dear Sailors we need one or two volunteers this weekend. The role is shore based radio operator. The task is to be available to listen on vhf 72 for the duration of each day's sailing. This can be done from your vessel inside the marina. The purpose is to back up the race control vessel in the very unlikely event of the failure of both its and the other course vessel's radios. If you are able to help please email [email protected]. Fran Mulcahy Sailing Chair

06.01.2022 OFFICIAL Hi SEQ boating and fishing community Christmas is just around the corner and on-water activities are certainly ramping up in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Here at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, we’re delighted to see that many of our marine park visitors have travelled up from SEQ to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. ... Support your boating and fishing customers and the Reef these holidays by encouraging them to download the Eye on the Reef app https://www.gbrmpa.gov.au//zon/eye-on-the-reef-zoning-app to help them better understand and comply with the zoning rules in our marine parks up and down the Queensland coast. The app’s mapping feature works inside AND outside of mobile range to pinpoint the user’s location, what zone they’re in and what fishing activities are allowed there. While most fishers do the right thing, even a small amount of illegal fishing can have serious impacts on Reef health https://www.gbrmpa.gov.au/the-reef/reef-health especially when coupled with coral bleaching and cyclones. Compliance patrols will be out in force for the holidays and anyone caught fishing in a no-take green zone risks a $2220 fine. As well as the app, fishers can use chart plotters and free zoning maps to help them with the zoning rules. Thanks for taking the time to read through this information and please do not hesitate to contact us here at the southern region office if you need other information. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable Christmas.
