23.01.2022 The number of women and girls playing football in Victoria has risen to record numbers, as football participation in Australia climbed to more than 1.95 million... in 2019. In the national football census released today by Football Federation Australia (FFA), the number of females playing the most popular club-based participation sport in the country rose by 11%. In Victoria last year, the number of women and girls participating in football rose over 50% to 23,549. This helped drive Victoria’s overall participation level to 456,604, a 29% lift on 2018. Football Victoria CEO Peter Filopoulos said he was thrilled with the game’s growth, particularly the number of women and girls participating in the world game. 22.01.2022 Following FFA's statement a short time ago, Football Victoria (FV) has confirmed that its Women's Community Shield, NPL Men’s, Junior Boys’ NPL, Junior Girl's N...PLW and FFA Cup competitions will go ahead as scheduled this weekend. FV is constantly monitoring and taking the latest advice from Federal, State and Local Government authorities including the Victorian Government and Sport and Recreation Victoria to determine its position. FV encourages all clubs and individuals to continue to monitor health advice from the appropriate authorities including the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services at: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-di. Given the current situation and the volume of enquiries, FV staff will be unable to directly respond to all queries over the weekend and we hope you understand in the circumstances. 20.01.2022 Football Victoria (FV) welcomes Football Federation Australia’s (FFA) announcement today that all football (soccer) competitions across Victoria have been postp...oned until 14 April. This decision will be reviewed, and further advice provided at that time. Updates will continue to be provided regularly on the FV Website at www.footballvictoria.com.au/ FV President Kimon Taliadoros said the difficult decision was clearly in the best interests of the Victorian footballing community’s safety, health and wellbeing. "FV has listened to, and wholeheartedly supports, our football family members and wants to allow them time and space to focus on their higher order priorities," Mr Taliadoros said. FV CEO Peter Filopoulos confirmed FV acknowledged the health advice and guidelines outlined by FFA, the Federal Government and Public Health Officers yesterday. It has become clear that in the current environment, communities are increasingly unable to focus on football activities which is completely understandable, Mr Filopoulos said. "Whilst we have some competitions already in season, several extra competitions were due to kick-off across Victoria this weekend. 20.01.2022 After careful consideration and having regard to the feedback received from the grassroots community, FFA advises that effective from 12:00am on 18 March 2020, all sanctioned grassroots football activity in Australia will be suspended until 14 April 2020.

Avondale FC has ...co-operated with FV during the investigation, which substantiated that breaches of its NPL Licence did occur in 2018 and 2019.
