25.01.2022 Talk about putting things in perspective.... I spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself and asked... ''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?'' ''Why would I do that?'' He asked... ''Well, then you wont have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.... You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!'' I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking. He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house? ''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tongue-tied. He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now. You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried. When your Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live. Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?''' Technology isn't life.. Spend time with people .. Not with devices." Writer: Unknown See more

24.01.2022 Here's a Men's Shed type joke to make you laugh on this hot day. Of course, we know this would NEVER occur with any of our members. https://www.youtube.com/watch

23.01.2022 Have you ever cooked 600 sausages and 32 beef burgers in a couple of hours.? Well the BBQ team of Mick W, Alton. Ron P, Les L, David G and Gary W did this morning for the students and staff at the Bandiana Primary School, for their sports day. Thanks to the great assistance provided by teachers and student grade captains the operation was as smooth as silk and no child went hungry.

21.01.2022 The Bicycle tree is finished and just waiting on the go ahead for site selection somewhere on Gateway island.

21.01.2022 The shed maybe officially closed for gatherings however the veggie garden still needs attention. Shedder Colin has been on the job whilst Don L has been away. Assisted here by Mick W.

20.01.2022 Jeff is a keen operator of the wood lathe making wooden bodies for pens. Here you can see his collection.

18.01.2022 Daintree Medical Centre today made a donation of $500-00 to the Wodonga Men's Shed. These funds were raised by the staff participating in "casual dress days". Here we see shed member Shane accepting the donation from Sandra Gilbee (Senior Receptionist) on the left and Caroline Nelson (Practice Manager) in the centre. Thanks also to Centre's Director Dr Ajit Varghese. Address:... 18.01.2022 Vale Bob Martin We lost a remarkable member on Friday 14 August 2020 at Wodonga Hospital. Bob had many skills that he gladly used to support the shed, particularly in Project Management of the new building in Jamieson Street and supplying and maintaining our computer systems.... There is a live stream of the funeral today. The live stream link will become active at 2:25pm via Lester & Son Funeral Directors. Link here: https://youtu.be/XqFY4cJntQE The Shed has mad a donation to Parkinsons Australia and others are encouraged to at CBA BSB 065126 Account 00902897

18.01.2022 We are hoping for some good news from Dan so we can open the shed. Anyone that prays to a God or similar, please include us. Anyone that doesn't...try it once - can't hurt.

17.01.2022 This is incredible. Ralph made his own single operator saw mill with parts he scavenged, including aircraft parts from a Canberra Bomber ! "The fellow who has never made a mistake, has never made anything". Good motto for the Men's Shed.

16.01.2022 Wodonga men's shed on Monday.

16.01.2022 How will we remember 2020? Are we nearer to opening the shed or is that "light a the end of the tunnel" another train heading towards us through the darkness. I am interested in seeing what shedders have been up to.... I know Mick W built some horse jumps for his grand daughter and her horse. Ron G laid some grass that he will never have to mow. Ken F built a mailbox that he needed a building permit for. Alton had been preparing for having the new steel security fence built and has already sold the existing chain mesh fence/gates. Mick S has been building a chicken coop for a lady. Greg McG is basking in Melbourne Demons success. Colin W has been caring for our vegie garden and doing a superb job (look out Don LeF - you may have lost your job). Mick W has been keeping the shed running whilst part time Pres Bill improves his suntan So, send me some photos or messages of any activities or our shedders. Personally, I restored a trailer that was left behind at a house my son recently purchased. Thanks to Ron G who welded on the new coupling.

16.01.2022 A couple of metal lads spotted here outside their usual habitat of their air conditioned workshop. They are cutting pipe into lengths to be bent and then turned into chicane gates for Parklands Albury Wodonga.

14.01.2022 Potential project for the Men's shed....making fishing lures. At $3,500 each we will all be rich!!!! In today's Border Mail -this story:... "The unique collectors item took Kuttafurra Lures' Aaron Young years of on and off work to piece together from his Bundalong work shed, with the finished product attracting plenty of attention from fishing lovers. After selling for $3,500, a handcrafted wooden crayfish lure has been dubbed "a bargain"." .

14.01.2022 With the covid restrictions I have found time to answer some questions that have always bothered me. Here are three images that illustrate the answers to these 3 questions. See if you can figure out what the often quoted questions are.

14.01.2022 One of the Shed's key partners in projects for the metal lads is Parklands Albury Wodonga. Ant Packer has another ranger to help her small team during the busy spring time. When the Shed re-opens we will be manufacturing some chicane gates for the various walking tracks along the local hills. Welcome to Chris.

14.01.2022 We have restored these donated toys and they are for sale on FB Market Place. Free delivery in Wodonga. In order $40.00, $50.00, $20.00

12.01.2022 Charlie Caldwell is one of the shed's newer members and well known around the district as current President of the Wodonga Senior Citizens, dancing classes and junior football coaching. Unfortunately Charlie had a recent fall on the footpath outside his medical clinic resulting in concussion, badly bruised face and several broke ribs. There is an excellent story in today's Border Mail and Charlie has given me permission to post this here, as it contains some very salient mes...sages. Here are some extracts from The Border Mail story by Sophie Boyd and photos by Mark Jesser. "My family can't get out of Melbourne at the moment, because of the virus I'm on my own at the moment," he said. Mr Caldwell supports the Victorian restrictions but wants to share his experience to encourage neighbours to look out for each other, especially any elderly people. He also warned other seniors to be extra careful when walking as they might not be able to have family there to support them. If not for the lockdown, he said, his family would be in Wodonga to take care of him. He said a lot of older people were very scared and isolated from their loved ones. "A lot of us have friends who are around Victoria and Melbourne and they've lost them," he said. Mr Caldwell said he's lucky he has a strong network of friends and neighbours locally to check in on him but worries for people, especially seniors, who do not.

11.01.2022 "There's a helping hand at the Men's Shed"

07.01.2022 From the archives - Shed "rascal" Greg doesn't mind dressing up.

07.01.2022 Our next project is to produce these special bolts. We believe there is a huge unsatisfied market out there.

03.01.2022 We will be opening Monday 16 November. Stay tuned for details.

03.01.2022 The final trek of the event on Friday was the busiest, with 116 students out of the 295 enrolled accompanied by eight staff for the 2.4-kilometre walk from Bandiana Area Cinema to the school. Defence school mentor Emily Gotts led the way with the event, along with groundsman Stuart Lingham, and said it was great to see such strong representation from across the school. A COVID-safe barbecue was put on to recognise the students' efforts, with food delivered to classroooms.

03.01.2022 Fun facts about Australia as viewed by overseas visitors. Which animal in Australia is the most dangerous? What should you definitely not do with a Gympie Gympie plant. How long would it take you to visit every beach if you went to a different one each day?

03.01.2022 Mick delivered this great project today. A new notice board with roof for the Wodonga Cemetery Trust. And I can advise that all members were relieved to arrive back at the shed after the visit to the Cemetery.

03.01.2022 The Metal Shed lads designed and built this quite beautiful bench seat to be installed at the shed for when they get tired.

01.01.2022 We have many fishermen among our members and also quite a few with artistic talent. This combines both. Anyone willing to give it a go?

01.01.2022 Here it is! Our brand new Men's Sheds Community Service Announcement features the beautiful voice of Michael Caton and it's just in time for the start of Men's Shed Week! What do you think? #mensshedweek2020 #morethanjustashed
