24.01.2022 **Club House Update** Though the Club has been in hibernation as a result of the winter competition being cancelled, the Committee has been working hard behind the scenes to make this family orientated Club an even better one! We intend to achieve this by delivering a long overdue Club House that not only our members can enjoy, but also the wider hockey community and surrounding neighbourhood.... Recently we were informed that our latest efforts to gain further funding was unsuccessful. Though disappointing this does now mean we can move forward and finalise the buildings design with the funds we have i.e $1,000,000. Though I can't share the actual design at this time I can share some of its features: * multipurpose room suitable for medium size events * an undercover viewing space * a dedicated meeting room * new toilet amenities * space for memorabilia * additional storage space * kitchen/canteen/refreshment centre ....and the whole facility will be elevated! We expect to finalise design in the coming weeks. The only downside is that with the impact COVID-19 the funds the Club was putting aside for fit out has of course not materialised. As such the Committee is arranging for a Club fundraising effort to close this gap out - circa $30K. Stay tuned to how you can help! We hope all our members are just as excited as the Committee...the design looks amazing!! Go Doggies! Kyle
21.01.2022 **ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS** If you have recently received communication from HV regarding 2020 membership fees, please DO NOT pledge for the 2021 season credit! This is very important.... The Club makes this payment on your behalf up front to enable all members to pay it via the instalment program. As the season never got underway, and we have not received club membership fees, if you make this pledge the Club will be significantly out of pocket as the credit needs to return to the club as a whole and not the individual member. Again, DO NOT make this pledge. Any questions please reach out to the Clubs Secretary. Kyle Go Doggies!!
21.01.2022 Sport Australia Acting CEO, Rob Dalton said: The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted sport in Australia and the role of the volunteer is now more important than ever. We need our volunteers to help rebuild our sporting communities and contribute to our social and economic recovery. Mr Dalton said the challenge was not only bringing volunteers back to sport but providing a plan to support them in a complex environment. There has been a singular focus on encouraging ...participants back to sport, but without volunteers there is no return to play and our data is showing that volunteers are returning to sport at a proportionately slower rate than participants. Our partnership with Volunteering Australia will enable us to work together and alongside the sector to develop a range of strategies to overcome the barriers for getting people back out into their communities and sporting clubs. Three key focus areas: 1 attracting more volunteers to sport; 2 reducing barriers to volunteer recruitment; and 3 increasing volunteer retention and quality of experience. We love our volunteers. Without them we would not be able to operate.

18.01.2022 Figure of 8 Drags | World Class Field Hockey Skills - LEAP Hockey Some skills that you can do in your living room or in your backyard. No better time to practice. The skill today is a way of keeping the stick on the ball and also learning to transfer your weight from your left foot to your right foot and keeping the stick on the ball in that motion.
17.01.2022 Body Fake Right | World Class Field Hockey Skills | LEAP Hockey A great deceptive skill to help you eliminate. The best bit is, you can practice it anywhere in 5ft x 5ft of space. Drop the shoulder, big drag and drive to space. GET PRACTICING https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66iUb4PQr6A
17.01.2022 ***Club House Update*** Yesterday the Wodonga City Recreational Officers, MODE, and of course ourselves agreed on the final design! From here it will go back to Council for final sign off, after which time we will be able to share the design in detail.... Though we had to reduce the size and remove some design features to get within budget, we are very confident we will be able to deliver a facility we will all be proud of. One which we will be able to cheer on our teams from, hold medium sized functions, and celebrate all things that make this Club so special. As we missed out on additional funding, the Club will need to tip all of its funds in to the actual build, meaning we will be short for fit out. This is where are members and supporters come in. We will announce details on how you can help in the coming weeks. A year ago we created a video showing the importance of such a facility to our Members - which we used in our submissions. Given we haven't been able to get on to the field this season, thought I would share it to remind everyone what this facility means to us! Go Doggies! Kyle https://www.wodongahockey.com.au/about-us/

10.01.2022 In most cases, cracking joints do not have any detrimental effects and can be present in healthy or abnormal joints, Dennis Cardone, D.O., primary care sports medicine specialist at NYU Langone Sports Health tells Runner’s World. Muscle or tendon popping is also usually a normal and common occurrence, And, according to Cardone, most cracking is benign and leads to no problems. However, in some cases the snaps and cracks can cause pain. Remember that joints make noise and tha...t in most cases it is a normal, common occurrence, says Cardone. For most people, running is good for the joints and will promote lubrication of the joints and less ‘cracking.’ But if cracking joints bother you, especially if they are causing pain, it’s something to bring up with your doctor. Rehab exercises directed at strengthening of the involved muscle groups will usually cure the discomfort that comes from your joints cracking, Cardone says. https://www.runnersworldonline.com.au/worried-joints-crac/
