25.01.2022 WOLFE CREEK METEORITE CRATER Wolfe Creek is home to a pretty cool looking crater, but is perhaps better known for the movie of the same name featuring everyones... favourite Aussie Larrikin Mick Taylor. Fortunately we didn't run into him, but we did enjoy checking out the 300,000 year old meteorite crater! You'll find Wolfe Creek at the Northern end of the Tanami Track, about 150kms from Halls Creek. You can pop in on your way down the Tanami, or day trip in from Halls Creek. Or if you feel so inclined you can camp at the free camp right by the crater (excellent new drop toilets, no other facilities). Now we read on WikiCamps that the road from Halls Creek to here was "the worst in Australia" but we didn't find it too bad. A bit corrugated, sure but no worse than the rest of the Tanami. And while we did spot the odd Ford Falcon on the track, we'd definitely be recommending 4x4 only. Cub Campers
