24.01.2022 With the weather warning up it was a great morning for our flood rescue operators to undertake some training and maintain their skills currency. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning for damaging winds possible this afternoon, with the warning area extending south of Wollongong down to Ulladulla. As the low pressure trough moves towards the coast, we may experience windy weather, so think about what precautions you might want to take around the home and avoid... parking under trees that may drop branches. 21.01.2022 Restrictions for Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Wollongong In response to an increase in COVID-19 cases, changes to restrictions are being introduced under a... Public Health Order. These rules and restrictions apply to Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong from Monday 21 December 2020. The following restrictions are now in place: -The number of visitors allowed in a place of residence will be limited to 10 people. The total number of visitors includes adults and children. The limit to the number of visitors applies until midnight on 23 December 2020. -A maximum of 10 people are permitted in holiday homes and short-term rentals unless everyone is from the same household. This applies until midnight on 23 December 2020. However, for premises that had already been rented out to more than 10 people before 21 December, the people can continue to stay there. -Existing capacity requirements of 1 person per 2 square metres will be tightened to 1 person per 4 square metres in indoor areas. -A maximum of 300 people, subject to the 1 person per 4 square metres rule applies for each separate area of: o hospitality venues o places of public worship. -Religious services held indoors are limited to a maximum of 300 people, subject to the 1 person per 4 square metres rule. -Singing and chanting at indoor venues will not be allowed. -Dance floors will not be permitted, except for weddings, where a maximum of 20 people from the bridal party will be permitted. A Severe Weather Warning has been issued at 6.22pm by the Bureau indicating that we are still at risk over the next few hours for potential thunderstorms with substantial rain, damaging wind and the possibility of large hail. 11.01.2022 Today, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott MP, visited the NSW SES State Headquarters. Commissioner Car...lene York and Deputy Commissioner Daniel Austin provided the Premier and Minister with a briefing following severe storms, heavy rain and floods along the NSW North Coast. They also viewed the newly developed Mobile Incident Command Centre and the new Cell on Wheels (CoWs). A Mobile Incident Command Centre is a transportable solution for incident management that can be used on the back of the FMX Volvo or lowered onto the ground, self-powered for up to 48 hours. The Cell on Wheels is a self-contained, self-powered Government Radio Network (GRN) cell carried on a 4x4 Iveco Daily truck that can establish radio communications in a range of scenarios to enhance frontline capability and member safety. NSW SES volunteers responded to more than 2,800 requests for assistance from communities in the region, particularly in Lismore and Tweed Heads.

Issued at 4:15 am Saturday, 22 August 2020 by Bureau of Meteorology VIGOROUS WINDS DEVELOPING TODAY A low pressure system near Tasmania is driving a series of troughs and cold fronts over southeast Australia. This pattern will result in westerly winds intensifying over eastern New South Wales today and Sunday. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are likely about higher parts of the Illawarra, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, ACT, Southern and Central Tablelands districts from mid-morning today, extending to coastal parts of the Illawarra by afternoon. Damaging winds are forecast to affect higher parts of the Hunter, Northern Tablelands and Mid North Coast districts later this afternoon or evening. Blizzards are possible in alpine areas above 1200 metres. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that back country travel be postponed until conditions improve. 06.01.2022 NSW SES Wollongong and Dapto Units have responded a #verticalrescue team to support Illawarra Police Rescue Squad - NSW Police Force at the Wodi Wodi track in Stanwell Park. An injured bushwalker has been accessed by our operators and NSW Ambulance paramedics, with support from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 241 Bulli. With use of a rope safety system, the casualty was moved to a clearing, where Toll Ambulance Rescue were able to winch the patient out for transport to hospital.... 03.01.2022 NSW Health has updated its advice for people who attended two previously announced venues in the Wollongong area. As reported Sunday, a confirmed case of COVID-...19 visited these venues after they were released from hotel quarantine and before they were notified of a positive result from their day-16 test. Anyone who was in the beer garden of the Headlands Hotel or who dined in at the Bulli Beach Café at the times listed below is now considered a close contact and should immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result: - Austinmer, Headlands Hotel (Beer garden), Headland Avenue and Yuruga Street: Tuesday 2 February, 1pm 3pm - Bulli, Bulli Beach Café (those who dined in), 68 Trinity Row: Saturday 6 February, 1.30pm 4pm Anyone who was at the Headlands Hotel (in all areas other than the beer garden) and anyone who got takeaway from the Bulli Beach Café at the times listed below is now considered a casual contact who should monitor for symptoms.
