16.01.2022 FOOTY WITH A DIFFERENCE Wheelchair Sports NSW have organised two Come N Try events at Shellharbour City Stadium (Croom Rd) for Saturday October 17 and Saturda...y October 31 both from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Wheelchair Sports NSW will have 2 courts available for the 2 hours. For new comers they generally do about 10 to 15 minutes of getting familiar with the sports wheelchair, followed by 20 to 30 minutes of basic sport skills which leaves between 1 and an 1.5 hours for game play. Wheelchair AFL is 5-a-side (full forward, half forward, ruck, half back, full back) and the court is zoned like netball. Please note, this is open to all, and participants do not need to be in a wheelchair to have a go!

15.01.2022 To all Lions Girls 15-19 Yrs old, The Illawarra Academy of Sport is once again running its AFL Girls Program for the 2020-21 period. Despite COVID-19 putting a damper on the year, the program this year had some tremendous success in the development of players, with the squad’s skills and understanding of the game improving significantly. As always, we have been working hard to ensure that next year’s program has an even greater positive impact on the players development. Ther...e will be services on offer that any aspiring AFL player will be wanting to take advantage of. Important to note is that due to this year’s disruption we are extending our age eligibility for this year to cater for the ages of 15-19. This allows for older age athletes to have another year within the academy. For more information on program specifics, eligibility and trial info please visit https://ias.org.au/afl/ I have attached a flyer calling for athlete nominations. If you could please spread this throughout your club and on your social media channels, to your athletes and your coaches that would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
