25.01.2022 Grevillea (Robyn Gordon) in bloom over Christmas. 39C forecast today and tomorrow, so topped up the bird baths under the wattle tree, and added a perch for thirsty bees and other insects.

23.01.2022 It's been scorching the last few days. Keep topping up the birdbaths to keep our feathered friends and other wee beasties happy and hydrated. A thunderstorm and max of 36C is forecast today, but not much rain is expected.

16.01.2022 It's going to be a long and hotter than average summer. If you have a newly established tree on your verge which is starting to struggle, give it a good drink, rather than just depend on the council watering contractors. A bucket or big watering can of water (with a bit of Super Soilwetter Seasol if possible) once a week, will help improve their chances of making it through to winter. #vergetrees #urbanforest

11.01.2022 On the related topic of the greening of public spaces, this is an interesting Water Corp program - Living Streams/Drainage for Liveability. https://www.abc.net.au//secret-suburban-stormwat/12977968

03.01.2022 Raimbow lorikeets - colourful non-native pests - in the strawberry blonde grevillea. They seem very brave and tame. In the upper branches above were wattlebirds. So far, we've had white cockatoos, pink and grey galahs, green parrots and rainbow lorikeets visit our verge. Other birds spotted are wattlebirds, New Holland honeyeaters, brown honeyeaters and willy wagtails. The wattlebirds seem to have kept other smaller birds away, but not parrots! #nativeverge
