05.01.2022 STRESS We all feel it, experience it, and handle it differently. If you are feeling stressed (and let’s be honest, most of us are), there are 3 easy steps you can use to help assess and ultimately address it ... What are the three stages of assessing stress? 1. Having awareness of your stress levels being consciously aware of what is happening around you which is causing, contributing to, or exacerbating the stress. How are these things contributing? How much is it really effecting you? 2. Self-acceptance of the stressful situation acknowledging the situation you are in, accepting you are feeling stressed, and what you may be doing to contribute to that state, without beating yourself up about it; and 3. Accepting responsibility for the situation acknowledging that you have a responsibility to yourself to work with, and learn to cope with, your stress levels, or the stressors in your life. What self care strategies will you employ? What’s your action plan to reduce your stressors? Journaling is a helpful process to help identify and expand on the above in order to discover where the things in your life which may be causing you trouble, are going a bit pear-shaped. You'll never plough a field by turning it over in your mind (Irish proverb), so putting it down on paper is a great start to identifying your stressors!
