19.01.2022 The Border Steam and Oil Engine Club wishes to inform the followers of the whereabouts of the former Bilson Park Steam Roller. The Aveling and Porter Steam Roll...er was removed from Bilson Park in 2002. The Roller was then placed in the care of the Border Steam and Oil Engine Club. Restoration was commenced by some very talented members past and present. The boiler has been re tubed, steam chest valves and cylinders rebuilt and a new tender has been built. Sadly the Restoration has been in hibernation for the last 17years. The Border Steam and Oil Engine Club is very pleased to announce that Restoration has recommenced. The Aveling and Porter Steam Roller will be on display at our 48th Annual Vintage Machinery rally this Easter Saturday and Sunday at our Leneva rally grounds. Please keep in mind that the roller is under restoration. Painting and reassembly is the last part of the Restoration process, further updates will be on our facebook page. The President Border Steam and Oil Engine Club

09.01.2022 As of today the April 1st, all mainline steam locomotives require a smoke deflector fitted due to a new operational requirement in Victoria. Therefore, D3 639 h...as had some crucial work done in order to be able to operate on the mainline again. The workshop team who assisted all agree that the new look suits the 115-year-old locomotive! Y112 will be the next in the fleet to have it's 'ears' fitted, so all the locomotives in our care are able to perform on the mainline under the new regulation. We are yet to decide which style of smoke deflectors will be fitted. What do you think? Post your thoughts below! Photo: Matt Oaten VR 2019.

08.01.2022 We today, take so much for granted with so much powered devices, tools and vehicles eg Forklifts of multiple designs and sizes but circa 1953, a new way and inv...ention for doing things gets working at the Albury Railway Yard back then possibly on a hand cranked crane common in all rail yards at the time. To balance the load the crane cable could be moved along the ratchet slot at the top(seen here always over to the left. Was the packing Pallet invented around that time period as well??? See more
