20.01.2022 First A.I. calf on the ground of the season this morning from FGAF Guerrero, a petit polled goggly eyed heifer calf out of a Wombat Hills Kaboom daughter. Giddy Up!

18.01.2022 Good results at Yass Salesyards today from one of our clients The Reid Family at Crowther. Wombat Hills Kung Fu Panda packs his bags two years ago and left Wombat to take up his residency in Crowther city. It is not often that your heifer portion goes for a higher price/kg than your Steers. Well done Matt, Amy and Kung Fu Panda. #SimCross #F1 #KungFuFighting #HisCalvesGrewFastAsLightning

17.01.2022 After a quick trip to the limestone coast area of South Australia for the Simmental bull sales, I’m on a high. It was great to visit Woonallee and Lakeside Simmental studs. It is a credit to the crews at both places they had the animals in wonderful condition. Great to be home and go for drive around our cattle. Calves pictured here are sired by Wombat Hills Kaboom (P) . He has been doing a great job for us, with a nice dark colour, eye pigment and a bit of length to the calves. #LoveSimmies

13.01.2022 A big thankyou for those who came and visited the farm today and checked out our herd. Some people travelled a long way, some not so far but it is great to meet people who are passionate about the Simmental breed. #SimmyCross #MaternalStrength #HybridVigor

12.01.2022 Good Morning everybody, today we are open from 9am to 3pm for Day Two of ‘The Land’ Ausmectin Southern Beef Week. Feel free to pop in and say hello at ‘Redfern Downs’ 1367 Wombat Road, Wombat NSW 2587. If you are coming via Harden you may need to go via Wallendbeen due to repairs to the Demondrille railway bridge. We have bulls for sale sired by Wombat Hills Kherry Bomb (P) and Wombat Hills Kaboom (P).... #Simmentals #Hilltops #F1Cross #ChoiceIsSimmple

10.01.2022 What was that Mum? Quit hanging around and get down to Wombat for day two of ‘The Land’ Southern Beef Week. Wombat Hills Simmentals proud to take part in Day Two of the Southern Beef Week. So pop in today Tuesday the 31st of July and say g’day.

09.01.2022 Wombat Hills Simmentals are proud to be a part of ‘The Land’ newspaper’s South Beef Week and we are open for inspection on Tuesday the 31st of July 2018 at ‘Redfern Downs’ 1367 Wombat Road, Wombat NSW 2587. We encourage any interested people to come and visit, we will have a number of bulls available for sale, as well as an opportunity to inspect our commercial Simmental/Angus heifers which are calving down to our bulls and see the next generation of purebred simmental heifer...s that are bulls are producing. Now you might be wondering why I have a cranky red headed man with me in the photo out the front of the White House. Is it because we are trying to ‘Make Simmental Great Again’? The gentleman’s name is Scott (otherwise known as Bunsen or Biggles) and he is commercial cattle breeder at Boona Mount (north of Condobolin). Scott is using our traditional Simmental genetics over his commercial Hereford herd. Scott has been impressed with confirmation and hybrid vigour in his first cross vealers and he has also kept a high proportion of his heifer calves to be his next generation matrons. Scott also has travelled with me extensively across North America inspecting some wonderful cattle and learning from our Ranching brothers and sisters at Buzzard Hollow Ranch, Tom Brothers Ranch, Bichler Simmentals, Kenner Simmentals, TNT Simmentals and C Diamond Ranch, as well as bumping into Leoma Wells (who used to live nearby in Young) at the American Simmental Association in Bozemann, Montana. The World can be a small place sometimes. Scott is always quick to remind me about the old adage in respect to appearances in ‘The Land’ newspaper. If you are in there twice you’re in financial difficulty. If you’re in there three times you’re broke! Scott would say. I take note of this warning as we participate in ‘The Land’ Southern Beef week for the third time. On the other hand each time we have participated we have met new people and have sold bulls each time. So we look forward to welcoming any new visitors and old ones as well. As for appearing ‘The Land’ three times Scott? I thought if I’m going down I’m taking you with me .

06.01.2022 A big Thankyou to Kevin, Lynette, Justin, Kendra and Josh for showing me around TNT Simmentals today. It was great to see your wonderful cows and Bulls in beautiful North Dakota. Look forward to showing you around Wombat, Australia one day soon.

06.01.2022 We are in the middle of a 2,000km (1,250 mile) road trip to visit my mate Doug Bichler of Bichler Simmentals, Linton, North Dakota. During the trip Ellen Tom of Tom Brothers Simmentals said to call into the American Simmental Association impressive new offices at Bozeman, Montana. First person we meet in the offices is Leoma Wells the DNA/THE Specialist. I didn't tell her I was from Wombat as I didn't think she would know where it was. She then tells me she used to live in Young, a town 10 miles away from where our farm is. What a small world we are live in. So our Wombat/Condobolin International trade delegation presented the staff we a bag of Caramello Koalas and a Simmental Australia bumper sticker. It was great to meet the staff from the American Simmental Association and hear what they are up to.

01.01.2022 The latest batch of Kung Fu babies are hitting the ground. I can’t wait till I get one for myself. Hopefully it’s as cute as this little fella. Good job mum.
