17.01.2022 One day we hope to have happy playful wombat kids here too!

14.01.2022 Pretty sure our little friends would do this when we’re not looking!

11.01.2022 This is brilliant!

10.01.2022 It only took us a week of trial and error with our new wildlife cam to capture a fully formed wombat! We had wombats barrel over the camera on 2 nights, lots of bum shots and the occasional whisker shot and mostly rabbits and fox activity. But here's proof we do actually have some cute wombat residents - and now we have the formula right we should do better next time :-)

03.01.2022 Did you know? A wombats pouch faces backwards. This is to prevent the pouch and the young wombat inside from being choked with dirt when mum is digging and clea...ning out the burrow. Wombats give birth to live, tiny and under-developed young, that have to crawl through their mothers fur to the pouch. The baby wombat stays in mums pouch for about 5 months. When the young wombat does get large enough to leave the pouch, it will still hide back in the pouch from danger or to nurse from mum. ***No, this wombat isn't giving birth - the joey is peeking out of mums pouch which faces backwards. Great photo by Strathewan Wildlife Shelter, Vic.
