25.01.2022 Have you got your Mother’s Day present yet? 3 days to go! "Personally, Mother's Day is a day to say thank you to my mum, to show my aunts how much I appreciate ...them and to reflect on earlier years with my grandmother. I owe these beautiful, strong women a huge amount of gratitude for years of care giving, mentoring and unconditional love. As a mother, I hope to share my experiences with my two amazing little girls. Professionally, it’s a time to acknowledge the women who have been part of our research projects and give thanks for their support. It is so rewarding to work with a passionate team of researchers, committed to making a difference to the lives of women with ovarian cancer and their families." Nadia Traficante is an ovarian cancer researcher and ANZGOG member. Please support Nadia and ANZGOG members by giving the gift of research to benefit women diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer, both now and in the future. Your donation will assist ANZGOG to pioneer new discoveries in gynaecological cancer. To donate visit: www.womencan.org.au/mothersday #TogetherWeAreStronger #gynaecologicalcancer #ovariancancer #research #mothersday #clinicaltrials #AllWomen
24.01.2022 Happy Mother's Day to all! ANZGOG Chair, Assoc Professor Philip Beale, has shared a message to remind us all of the importance of our Mothers and researc...h into women's cancers: "At this time we're all thinking about how COVID-19 is affecting our friends, our loved ones, our families, and in particular - our mothers. With Mother's Day upon us, it only reminds us of the importance of our mothers, their health, and their wellbeing. At ANZGOG, our research program continues to strive to improve outcomes for women with gynaecological cancer. The need for research is always present, and our enthusiasm to make improvements to women's lives has made us all more determined than ever. Help us fund pioneering discoveries that will improve life for women with a gynaecological cancer." We thank all our ANZGOG members and supporters who shared their thoughts and personal feelings about Mother's Day with us. Celebrate your Mum and all women in Australia and New Zealand this Mother’s Day by donating at www.womencan.org.au/mothersday

23.01.2022 "Wouldn't it be nice to walk away and not have to think about cancer anymore?" ovarian cancer patient Ria, a participant in ANZGOG's SOLACE2 trial. This is no...t the future she pictured for herself or her family. Sadly, she has no idea how much time she has left. Ria hopes, beyond all hope, that this current trial will give her more time. This year 6,650 Australian women, like Ria, will be diagnosed with one of the 7 gynaecological cancers. The reality is that the treatment options for gynaecological cancers, unlike some other cancers, are still very limited. Too many women just won't survive. This is your LAST CHANCE to make a tax-deductible donation before Tuesday, 30 June via www.womencan.org.au/taxappeal. Your donation, however large or small, will help improve life for women with a gynaecological cancer. WomenCan is the fundraising arm of Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG). #TaxAppeal #eofy #TogetherWeAreStronger #CancerResearch
22.01.2022 It's the day before Mother's Day so there is still a time to give the gift of research to celebrate your mum. Understanding the behaviour of cancer tumours is... critical in slowing or stopping their progress. Today we speak to Professor Anna deFazio, ovarian cancer researcher and a 14 year ANZGOG member. "Mother’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the ‘superheros’ our mothers are! For me, it’s a day that I am especially pampered by my girls, and we celebrate all the amazing women in our lives. On Mother’s Day, I especially remember my own mother, who we miss dearly, and marvel at what she did for us, the impact she had on all that knew her, and how her spirit has now passed on to her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters! My research has always centred on improving outcomes for women with cancer, and Mother’s Day, more than any day of the year, reminds us how important it is to keep striving and doing our very best, until our job is done. " Your vital donation to WomenCan Mother's Day campaign will support Professor deFazio and other ANZGOG members' gynaecological cancer research. Go to: www.womencan.org.au/mothersday to give the gift of research. Women being diagnosed with gynaecological cancers doesn't stop during #COVID-19 and our research is as important as ever.
19.01.2022 One of the many fundraising initiatives throughout Team Teal was the Follow a Foal program; which followed the journey of a mare and foal from conception, to the foal taking it’s first steps, all the way to the final sale. The program is run in conjunction with @HarnessBreedersVictoria stud partners @AlabarFarms and @aldebaranparkaustralia. The culmination of the program was The Australasian Premier Trotting Sale, where foals named Critic and Demi went through the sales ring..., with 5% of the sale price of each filly being split between the two charity partners. This, along with some fundraising done by Harness Breeders Victoria throughout the campaign period, resulted in a donation of $629 towards Team Teal 2020. Great effort by all involved, looking forward to next year! #getrealsupportteal #followafoal #TeamTeal #ovariancancer #harnessracing #WomenCan See more
17.01.2022 What influence has your Mum had on you? John Andrews, Program Manager - Clinical Trials at ANZGOG, tells us about the positive impact that his Mum has had on him, and how clinical trials can help us to continue to enjoy time with the special women in our lives: "Mother’s Day allows me to celebrate the strong women in my life who helped me become the person I am today. My Grandmother played a large role in raising me alongside my Mum, who was working hard to support th...e both of us as a single parent. Mother’s Day reminds me of the strength and determination it takes to be a parent, which in turn helps me become a better Dad to my own three kids. In my role of overseeing the clinical trial portfolio, the research and treatments that ANZGOG adapt into clinical trials are so important as they will hopefully allow others to enjoy their Mum's for many, many years to come, irrespective of a gynaecological cancer diagnosis." If you’d like to support ANZGOG’s clinical trials to improve life for all women, then give the thoughtful gift of research in Mum's name for Mother’s Day - www.womencan.org.au/mothersday #mothersday #mothersdaygift #TogetherWeCan
17.01.2022 WomenCan today launched their 2020 Tax Appeal featuring ANZGOG Board Director, researcher Professor Clare Scott. Our hope is to dramatically improve patient ou...tcomes for ovarian cancer, which is lethal for 70% of women diagnosed with it, says Professor Scott, Medical Oncologist and researcher. The clinical trial Professor Scott is currently leading, called SOLACE2, is exploring ways to trigger a woman’s own immune system to fight ovarian cancer at the first sign it is recurring. That is, after the first round of treatment has been completed but cancer markers in the blood are identified as rising again. Please consider giving today to support ANZGOG's pioneering research, like Professor Scott's, whose discoveries are so urgently needed. Your tax-deductible donation can improve life for women affected by gynaecological cancer. www.womencan.org.au/taxappeal #TogetherWeAreStronger #cancerresearch #eofy #ovariancancer

12.01.2022 It has been 20 years since I last saw my mum, Elise. Wow, she could light up a room with her smile! In life I draw strength and wisdom from her every day. I ...wish we had more time to be together but ovarian cancer took her life. My wish this Mother’s Day is that all women have the gift of time. Research into more effective treatments can help that wish become reality. I hope your wish is the same. Please join me in supporting ANZGOG’s research this Mother’s Day. Karen Livingstone AM - ovarian cancer advocate and Head of Fundraising and Development at ANZGOG and WomenCan If like Karen, you want to celebrate your mum’s life this Mother's Day with a donation then please give the gift of research at: www.womencan.org.au/mothersday then add the WomenCan Mother's Day profile picture frame by following the instructions on our Facebook page. #MothersDay2020 #TogetherWeAreStronger #gynaecologicalcancer #ovariancancer #mum #research
