24.01.2022 NEW APPOINTMENT | The Women in Insurance (Qld) Committee would like to extend a warm welcome to our newly appointed President, Stephanie Huestis. Stephanie has been an integral member of the WII Committee since 2016, and has dedicated many hours as (among many other roles) a key organiser for our annual Christmas Luncheons. The Committee looks forward to receiving Stephanie’s guidance in furthering women in the insurance industry.

19.01.2022 NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER | The Women in Insurance (Qld) Committee is excited to welcome our newest Committee Member, Abbey Stockley. Abbey works in the defendant insurance practice of Gilchrist Connell. She has experience across the public liability sphere including trip and falls, worker to worker injuries and abuse claims working for major insurers and underwriters. Abbey was previously a Registered Nurse for 10 years and has a special interest in personal injury law drawing f...rom her experience in the health sector. We warmly welcome Abbey to the Committee.

10.01.2022 DONATION | We are grateful to be able to use our platform to help other not-for-profit organisations. Precious Paws Animal Rescue (PPAR) is committed to saving the lives of pound dogs and at risk dogs in the community. PPAR is run 100% by a volunteer base and dogs are cared for in family homes while being prepared for their second chance at a new life.... For more info, see PPAR’s page below.

09.01.2022 DONATIONS | Women in Insurance (Qld) would like to extend its thanks to all our wonderful members who attended our Christmas Function at the end of last year. While the event had strictly limited numbers, we are proud to announce that our members raised $2,000 for charity. After our friends, family and colleagues in Victoria experienced extended lockdowns in 2020, WII was thrilled to announce our chosen charity as the Women’s Legal Service Victoria (WLSV). The WLSV provide...d the following response: We are thrilled to receive $2,000 raised at your Christmas function, especially because we were unable to hold our own fundraising breakfast event in 2020 due to the lockdown in Victoria. The money received will contribute to our continued work in making a difference in women’s lives by providing legal advice and representation to women experiencing disadvantage and advocating for law and policy that promotes the rights of women.

08.01.2022 EVENT | We are excited to be supporting a Leadership Summit: Women in Insurance aimed to inspire, develop and connect women in insurance across the industry. This event will be conducted entirely online on Friday 20th November via a conferencing platform. The event is aimed to inspire entry to middle-level female management to strive for leadership roles, to encourage connection and team building.... The day will be a combination of thought-provoking panels, interactive workshops and will close with a networking event all through the safety of cyberspace. 07.01.2022 NEW APPOINTMENT | In the final in our series on Committee member movements, the Women in Insurance (Qld) Committee would like to congratulate Danielle Davis on being appointed Joint Secretary. Danielle is a solicitor in the General Insurance team at Hall & Wilcox, working with a particular focus on professional indemnity and public liability claims. Danielle is an Indigenous Australian, a proud Kabi Kabi woman, with a passion for insurance and equality. ... The Committee warmly welcomes Danielle’s appointment to the role of secretary, which will be shared with Monica Jaynes.
