16.01.2022 Poverty puts pressure on people - it's constant and strong. If the pressure builds up, people can be pushed into homelessness. We can relieve pressure by creati...ng affordable housing and helping people get decent jobs. And we can help by strengthening our social welfare system. We can never go back to $40 a day. #APW2020 #EverybodysHome Anti-Poverty Week See more

14.01.2022 Greetings, Destroyers! One of our favourite Australian feminist groups working hard to end domestic violence related deaths is the Red Rose Foundation. Their la...test success is the establishment of the Australian Institute for Strangulation Prevention, to provide specialist non-lethal strangulation intervention and prevention training and resources for professionals working with domestic violence and sexual assault intimate partner strangulation. The Red Rose Foundation is also responsible for red park benches appearing across the country, to raise awareness of DV and encourage us all to take a stand against it. https://www.redrosefoundation.com.au Now they’re in the running for a share of $200,000 from My Giving Circle, which is donating funds to the top 130 charities as voted by the public. Such funding would be invaluable in helping The Red Rose Foundation continue and expand their important work. Destroyers, will you vote for The Red Rose Foundation? 05.01.2022 Beneath her picture perfect feed was the story of a woman in an abusive relationship with her husbandone that would start with his arrest shortly after they got married, and end 10 months later with him shooting her to death in a parking lot.

04.01.2022 Destroyers, What is the key to address women living in poverty? Most of the poor people in the world are women. In no country on earth are women economically e...qual to men, and Australia is no exception... The experience of living below the breadline in our very wealthy nation is a gendered one, for reasons that are complex and intertwined. As women progress through life, they encounter a series of barriers and setbacks that simply do not encumber men in the same way. The cause of gendered poverty is structural. It is entrenched in our workplace settings, and embedded in our personal relationships. It is at play at every stage of a womans life, from childhood to the grave, making its mark on our education, our employment, our homes, our familial responsibilities and our retirement options. At its heart is the simple fact that women do the lions share of caring for others. Caring is womens work, and our society does not value womens work. https://www.theguardian.com//most-poor-people-in-the-world Destroyers, what does valuing womens work look like?

03.01.2022 Betty Taylor, CEO of Red Rose Foundation, will be speaking out about non-lethal strangulation, its increase in reports of domestic violence, and why it is a serious issue that can't be ignored.

01.01.2022 Thank you so much to the wonderful SCOPE women for making these beautiful bags for children. Inside the bags are items such as cuddly toys, torches, colouring in books, toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as other fun items. We hope it will provide children (who are forced to leave the family home due to Domestic Violence) with a little bit of comfort. The SCOPE women presented the bags to our service and stayed on and shared a lovely morning tea with staff. Thank you all so much
