20.01.2022 Theresa Lamb.... look her name up in the dictionary under ‘Angel’. This beautiful lady donated her old car to a resident of ours who had recently escaped a dome...stic violence situation at home. ...You read that correctly, she donated her car. Pass the tissues! Our resident ‘Jane’ (not real name) has been working and studying and trying to get her life back on track. Along came an angel aka Theresa and helped make Jane’s life so much easier. I hope this story lifts your spirits as much as it did ours. Wow. Just wow! Please join me in thanking Theresa . You’ve made such a huge difference in someone else’s life. We are very grateful to you!! See more

18.01.2022 The team and I at Jeep were inspired by this Chaka Khan/Whitney song to create something beautiful especially after a year that was less than beautiful in our industry and more importantly in the world. I believe it is even more powerful to use your gifts give back during tough times. As each exceptionally talent individual came on board to work on this collaboration our hearts soared. ‘I’m Every Woman’ was the perfect song I felt, as it has always reinforced my belief tha...t every woman deserves to feel beautiful and valued. 16.01.2022 Today, in a game changer for Australian women, Are Media has formed a powerful coalition to call for state and federal governments to criminalise coercive control. Standing with Women's Community Shelters, White Ribbon Australia, Women's Safety NSW, Small Steps 4 Hannah, Women's Legal Service Queensland, and Doctors Against Violence Towards Women - Public Page , Editor of The The Australian Women's Weekly Nicole Byers delivered a firm message to state and federal government. We will not stop until we are heard. Details: https://bit.ly/3dgle8a

16.01.2022 It was wonderful to welcome the Parramatta Women's Shelter Board to the HUB this weekend. They are invested and dedicated in delivery quality and best practice service to the Parramatta region. They are currently $400 shy of a goal to fund outreach services, so if you can help them reach this goal by donating or sharing the link, we would be most grateful. 09.01.2022 "The prawns are running this month and the travel restrictions are favourable. At the minimum, it will be a great weekend out of Sydney in beautiful country with some real characters. We will stay the night locally the night before, having dinner with some of the traditional owners, the Biripi people." - John Hempton Ray Saunders' son Grant is a film-maker who made the beautiful and thoughtful film - Teach A Man To Fish - about the river, his father, a fisherman’s life and a ...lot of current issues. It debuted at the Sydney Film Festival (SFF) in 2018. To get the ball rolling I have donated $10,000 to Great Lakes Womens Shelter and am hoping some of my readers can beat that handsomely. The bidding will start at $5000. Even with a minimum bid the Shelter will get a very welcome $15000. There is only room for two extra people on the boat so there will just be two of us with Grant and Ray. Happy bidding John Hempton https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164427821690

08.01.2022 This is why, at Women’s Community Shelters, we have a dedicated a Child Support Worker assisting at each of our family shelters. Children witnessing domestic violence and a lack of safety in their homes deserve specialist support in their own right, as well as in partnership with the support their Mums receive. Our Child Support Program is funded by our generous donors.

07.01.2022 I AM EVERY WOMAN 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for almost everyone. Australia has seen an increase in Family Violence during this pandemic with many women and children having access to even more limited options to flee violent homes. In fact, on average 56,000 women are homeless each night in Australia. And alarmingly, 45 women have been killed by a partner or former partner so far this year. The team and I at Jeep were inspired by this Chaka Khan/Whitney song to cr...eate something beautiful especially after a year that was less than beautiful in our industry and more importantly in the world. I believe it is even more powerful to use your gifts give back during tough times. As each exceptionally talent individual came on board to work on this collaboration our hearts soared. ‘I’m Every Woman’ was the perfect song I felt, as it has always reinforced my belief that every woman deserves to feel beautiful and valued. 02.01.2022 Drum roll please... We have extremely exciting news. We have been asked to co-create a Walk The Talk Corporate program with KPMG Australia for Women's Community Shelters! This is an incredible opportunity for us to walk alongside a multinational corporate and reimagine how they might best not only support employees living with domestic and / or family violence, but extend their talents into the broader community to better support frontline services too. It's an enormous opp...ortunity to also centre the voices of survivors, embed action (not just words) and to work for change. Our Director for Education and Special Projects, Dannielle Miller, will be designing and delivering this work. Onwards!
