22.01.2022 Good news! Victims of domestic violence assaults in NSW will no longer need a police report to have hospital fees waived for treatment for injuries. Currently, women on temporary visas are ineligible for Medicare and reluctant to report to police for a range of reasons. A police report shouldn't be necessary for medical help so this is a great shift. https://www.smh.com.au//easier-hospital-access-for-victims

21.01.2022 We’re part of a 15000 person movement of #crediblewomen challenging the Federal Budgets failure to provide for women during a pandemic she-cession. The paltry ...investment of less than 1% of the budget on specialist gender equity initiatives to improve women’s economic security was bad enough. But the missed opportunities to fund and reform early childhood education universally and fairly while there is a record deficit - it was visionless. 14.01.2022 It’s distressingly common for perpetrators to use systems like Centrelink to extend their abuse and compromise women’s chances of financial independence. Why do we determine any one’s eligibilty for income support on the basis of someone else’s income/circumstance? Perhaps it’s time we trial universal basic income?
