17.01.2022 Chronic Pelvic Pain the silent epidemic We understand how overwhelming, and at times frustrating, it can be dealing with chronic pelvic pain. According to the Australian Pain Management Association, around 1-5 women suffer from pelvic pain. For women of reproductive age, this is one of the most common causes of non-attendance at work. Chronic pelvic pain often starts young. Many women grow up normalising the pain as they are made to feel 'it is normal', 'part of bein...g a woman', or that 'nothing can be done.' Understandably, this eventuates to difficulties in personal development, relationships and sexual confidence. However, you do not need to suffer in silence. A multidisciplinary pelvic pain team committed to your personal journey will ensure you receive a tailored medical pain management plan, as well as empower you to develop the appropriate knowledge and skills for pain self-management. Your team may include a Gynaecologist, Psychologist, Exercise Physiologist, and your GP, amongst other health professionals. Given the prevalence of this epidemic and in an attempt to spread awareness, we thought it was only fitting to host our first (of many) info sessions on the following topic. We are excited to have the following speakers present: - Dr Hanan Maghazaji: Director of Women’s Health Plus and our specialist Gynaecologist with over 30 years experience. She has dedicated her life to improving women’s quality of life through her holistic approach. - Kiara Roscio: Director of Seed Exercise Physiology for Her. Kiara specialises in treating health issues specific to women by providing safe and effective exercise interventions. - Dr Sharon Robertson: Principal clinical psychologist at Davies & Robertson Psychology. Dr Sharon has an empathic, friendly and evidence-based approach to treating a wide range of disorders. We would love for this session to not only be educational, but also provide women the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals on similar, but very unique journeys. Register your interest via DM or [email protected] where you will receive further information. Image via @studioh20

05.01.2022 Self-care An essential human regulatory function that requires deliberate implementation and self-initiation. Self-care contributes to the maintenance of well-being and personal health and promotes human development through intentional activities and attitudes. Implementing this positive self practice routinely can be difficult. We understand how busy life can get. But, the positive implications of self-care on mental and physical health and well-being have been heavil...y researched, making self-care a valuable investment of your time. There are 8 areas of self-care: physical, psychological, emotional, social, financial, spiritual, environmental and professional. It is important to choose activities that are meaningful to you and your goals in order to sustain positive self-care for the long term. With the weekend upon us, let’s all take the time out to take care of ourself. See more
