11.01.2022 New research has shown that women undergoing IVF who had greater adherence to a Profertility diet had increased chances of pregnancy. We’ve previously seen ev...idence that a Mediterranean diet can improve IVF outcomes, but the authors of this study suggest that the Profertility diet may impart even greater benefit specifically for implantation, clinical pregnancy, live birth, and reduced risk of pregnancy loss. A profertility diet is very similar to The Mediterranean diet, with a few key add-ons. So what exactly does a profertility diet include? 1. Supplemental Folic acid, Vit D, B12 (chat to your dietitian about specific amounts/ types that may be appropriate for you) 2. Low pesticide fruit and vegetables 3. Wholegrains 4.Seafood 5. Dairy 6. Soy Foods Regardless of whether you’re going down the IVF road, focusing on your nutrition in the lead up to trying for a baby is always a good move we have clear evidence that our pre-conception diet impacts the programming of our baby’s genes..and therefore its lifelong health. If you think your diet could use some attention, get in touch. As a fertility and prenatal dietitian I love working with women at all stages of their fertility journey.
