05.01.2022 See this v shape on the tree? You may have walked passed something like this on your walks many times. Its caused by the cute gliders! @monique.adventures explains... The sugar gliders only pick some trees to get their food so they have to move around large home ranges to find the right trees. ... Once they've found the right tree, usually a smooth bark species like this one in the video, they cut a distinctive v-shape into it to extract the sap. It's a pretty miserable diet and the gliders have to do a lot of work to cut through the bark to get food that has a low nutrient value. Not only does the sap have properties like cyanide, shearing through the bark wears down the animals' teeth very quickly.
