14.01.2022 Comparison of FCMP-Fused Calcium Magnesium Phosphate, to Superphosphate. There two forms of FCMP.... 1: FCMP 0-8-0 is a grit form and a belt spreader( Lime or Gypsum) is the preferred option. It can be used in a combine seed spreader. 2: FCMP 0-7-0-2 is a prill form and can be used in an air seeder. This product is $ 30 dearer than the grit. Application rates vary according to the crop requirements and soil test result. Can be altered to suit the farmer’s budget. The soil test provided by the Environmental Research Laboratory out of the University of Lismore NSW includes an Albrecht test. This measures the hydrogen ions in the Cation Exchange Capacity: the water and nutrient holding capacity of the soil. The main Cations ( Positively charged ions ) are Calcium, Magnesium. Potassium , Sodium and Hydrogen. These cation ions cling to the negatively charged soil particles. Whereas Nitrogen, phosphorous sulphur are negatively charged ions, They float in the soil as they have the same charge as the soil. The hydrogen factor is relevant to the pH. The pH is a measure of hydrogen ions in an acid soil. In an Alkaline soil it measure hydrogen oxide ions. Simply one is Positive, the other Negative. It is not a measurement of soil fertility. It is not a measure of any other Cation! The lab tests for two readings of the major nutrients: Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous and Potassium. The first reading indicates nutrient availability to the plant, the second the total and locked up factor. These locked up nutrients can be released by microbiology, applying Ag Lime or Humates. An extensive trace element test is done as these are vital for soil, plant, animal and human health! Cost for test is Approx. $ 160 and the results comes with a 4/5 page write up as well as graphs and Pie Chart.
