24.01.2022 Drawing skills and techniques. Today our campers are practicing some useful drawing techniques of shading with a sharpie. We found out that it’s not very effective to use a sharpie to colour in solid blocks of colour and are using the cross-hatching technique instead.... Children are shading their imagines by drawing closely spaced parallel lines - it takes less time to cover large areas and allows to add colour to the image.

20.01.2022 Next week is the last week of summer school holidays and we have a couple of spots left in our ‘Dragon Illustration’ camp on Jan 28 (Thursday). We will be experimenting with chalk pastel, pencils and pens to create fantasy dragons while learning about scale, proportion, composition, pattern and line. We will be inspired by fantasy dragons creating imaginary creatures with a variety of drawing materials and learning tons of information about this magical beasts!... 17.01.2022 Making a Star Wars lightsaber that glows in the dark We are thinking of other Star Wars inspired projects to make later this year - a stormtrooper helmet; a space ship; a blaster. Give us some ideas of what your child would like to make!

15.01.2022 Star Wars inspired drawings - each camp we practice a lot of imaginative drawing and painting encouraging children to make as much art during the day as they can!

08.01.2022 We know from theory that children benefit most from open-ended approaches to learning. Teacher’s effort should be directed towards setting the context, framing the challenge and facilitating each child on their individual journey of art exploration. How do we choose art projects at WonderLab? How do we ensure children develop creativity - not just copy the teacher’s example?... We teach effective application of art materials and let children create their own artwork design using the techniques we are learning. This is the reason why all the artworks in our studio look so different and unique even though the children are given the same task.

07.01.2022 Some glimpses of our Super Hero camp - the children got to design their super hero costumes making masks, badges, belts, wrist bands and swards plus practiced their drawing skills We are running this camp next week again - join us!
