14.01.2022 I wish to advise that due to the progress of the COVID-19 in Cairns, Wontulp-Bi-Buya College Office will be closed from the 6th of April to 17th of April. All staff are now beginning preparation of working from their homes and as a precaution for self-isolation and commencement of testing systems and remote log-in from their homes. This is a safety measure to minimise exposure of staff to the general public and for their safety and also their families. This time table may change depending on Local/State and Commonwealth advice. All enquires are still the same as per my previous post. Your phone call will be re-directed to the College mobile and a staff member will respond as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience. College Principal

13.01.2022 Good Morning, I firstly acknowledge the traditional people of this land the College is situated and also all our Elders in our homes and communities. By now all of us are doing what we can in the face of the COVID-19 and following advice from our Local/State and Commonwealth Govt’s. Wontulp-Bi-Buya College is also abiding by the advice given and also implementing it’s own procedures on this changing pandemic. By now most would be aware that the College have ceased face to fac...e training until further notice. But it doesn’t mean our enrolled students for 2020 won’t be studying as our College Trainers are busy preparing study plans and preparing resources and course material to be available to students. This will take sometime as the College is in unchartered waters of delivering training remotely and with limited technology and using what is available right for us. So, students please be Patient as we work through this. Make sure you provide an update on any changes to your contact details and forward to [email protected] for the training staff. The College Office is now closed to the General Public until further notice, any queries about your course training please email [email protected] and your email will be forwarded to the appropriate trainer to follow up with you. If you do ring the College office your call will be diverted to the College mobile that is managed by our executive staff and they will pass on your message to the appropriate staff member or they will call you back to respond to your query. I ask also please be patient with us on responding to you as soon as we can when we can. College Staff are preparing the inevitable of working remotely from their place of residence as part of the recommendations from Local/State and Commonwealth Govt’s so once again this is going to be very challenging for us to keep the business of the College open and moving forward. I will provide further updates when I can as soon as I can, we are all very busy but please do not hesitate to call our mobile for the appropriate staff member or via email [email protected] Thank you for your support and keep praying for each other. Stay Safe and God Bless College Principal 24 March 2020

10.01.2022 I thought I would share this from a Torres Strait Perspective... On this day in 1937 our first Island Councillors met on a island called Yorke Island or Masig as we know locally. They met to speak as a united voice on self-determination, discrimination, lsland and sea protection and many other important issues that we one of only 2 indigenous races people of Australia faced then and still face today. I acknowledge the leaders and elders of that era who had a vision for our people and I and many other TSI generations today would not enjoy what we have because of what they said and done. But the work is still not over it is now up to this generation to carry on that great legacy. Thank up my elders past and present for everything. College Principal
