20.01.2022 Blood flows continuously through your body via three main types of blood vessels -arteries, veins and capillaries. The combined length of one person's blood ves...sels is over 60,000 miles!! Here are some quick facts about blood vessels: Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to all of the body's tissues. Capillaries are small, thin blood vessels that connect the arteries and the veins. Veins that take blood back to the heart. This blood contains less oxygen and is rich in waste products to be excreted from the body. #MeducateMonday #MedicineX

06.01.2022 COMMON SALT MYTHS Some salts are advertised as having special health benefits from the minerals they contain. These include... sea salt and Himalayan salt. These salts contain as much sodium as regular salt. The amounts of minerals present in these salts very small, and can be easily found in a wide range of other healthy foods. Putting it all together Eat fresh foods like fruit, vegetables, legumes, and wholegrain bread and rice Drink plenty of water Eat some lean meat, such as chicken and fish Cut back on snack foods with high levels of saturated fat, sugar or salt. Healthy alternatives include fresh fruit, low-fat yoghurt (check for added sugar) and unsalted nuts Look for no added salt, salt reduced or low salt products Use only small amounts of salty sauces Use food labels to choose the lowest salt products

01.01.2022 WE REQUEST YOU ALL TO SIGN THE PETITION AND HELP US RAISING VOICE AGAINST THIS. The Hunter is a region with a much higher proportion of disadvantaged community members than the leafy green suburbs of North Sydney. This was recognised by giving the Hunter region access to a higher rebate for bulk-billed patients. But on the 1st of January 2020, Scott Morrison is cutting back payments for bulk-billing in our region to match suburbs like Mosman. By doing this, Scott Morrison is... removing a staggering $7.5 Million Health Dollars from our region. That's $7.5 Million dollars directly used by GPs to bulk-bill the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in our community - including our children. Coming on top of payments that have already been severely reduced (e.g. the "Medicare rebate freeze") this will force GPs to start charging a gap payment for our most vulnerable people. C'mon, ScoMo - why are you picking on us? Fair Go, ScoMo - don't take $7.5 Million away from the most vulnerable in our community!!! SIGN THE PETITION AT https://www.thepetitionsite.com//stop-scott-morrison-taki/
