23.01.2022 The South Australian roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions was released today, with Step 1 coming into effect from Monday 11 May. The roadmap outlines how CO...VID-19 restrictions will be eased in our state, so our community can return to doing the things they enjoy in a safe and measured way. Every state and territory is different, in terms of its geography and its people. We have taken into account our specific circumstances in South Australia. A number of factors have been considered in determining what can resume, and when. These include deciding what measures can be introduced to lower the risk of transmission, how long people will be in close contact with each other and how much space everyone can have. This is a very important part of our planning for re-opening businesses in a safe way. Our priority is to resume activities which will strengthen our community, restore our economy and improve our physical and mental wellbeing as soon as possible. Our public health response has also been strengthened, including broader testing and faster contact tracing with the COVIDSafe app. Visit www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/recovery to view the roadmap. Frequently Asked Questions will be available soon. Keep up the good work South Australia, and let’s not undo all the good.

22.01.2022 Most South Australian households are well prepared for the challenges presented by our weather seasons. However we’re often unaware of the things we can do every day to protect our health. COVID-19 has changed the way we go about our day to day lives and it may mean that we forget to look after our general health. During this pandemic, it is especially important that you keep well and keep connected with your GP to manage your health.

05.01.2022 With spring comes pollen and seasonal hay fever, which can cause some symptoms similar to COVID-19 symptoms. While they may share some symptoms, there are key ...differences: Hay fever does not usually cause shortness of breath unless a person has a respiratory condition, such as asthma that can be triggered by exposure to pollen. Hay fever causes watery and itchy eyes, as well as sneezing, which are not symptoms of COVID-19. Hay fever symptoms can change depending on the time of day due to pollen levels. COVID-19 can cause fever or chills, which is not a common symptom of hay fever. Symptoms of hay fever and COVID-19 can vary from person to person and range from mild to severe. If you know you routinely experience hay fever, talk to your GP about starting preventive medication early in the season, before symptoms occur. This will help to prevent or decrease your symptoms. Talk you to your GP if you are unsure if your symptoms are related to hay fever or if your symptoms differ from previous experiences.
05.01.2022 Nurses and midwives play a vital role in providing health services. These are the people who devote their lives to caring for mothers and children; giving lifesaving immunisations and health advice; looking after older people and generally meeting everyday essential health needs. They are often, the first and only point of care in their communities. The world needs 9 million more nurses and midwives if it is to achieve universal health coverage by 2030. That’s why the World Health Assembly has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.
