12.01.2022 OUR AUSTRALIAN FLAG AFLOAT - AUSTRALIAN RED ENSIGN The Australian Red Ensign is the correct version of our flag afloat. The Australian Red Ensign is our "National Colours" for Australian Registered Ships under the Shipping Registration Act 1981. The Shipping Registration Act of 1981 reaffirmed that the Australian Red Ensign was the proper "colours" for Australian registered ships and that smaller (i.e., less than 30 tons) pleasure and fishing craft could fly either the Australian Red Ensign or the Australian National Flag but not both at the same time. Private Pleasure Craft have the privilege of 'wearing' the Australian Red Ensign. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Red_Ensign.

04.01.2022 The August edition of the Crow’s Nest, the WBASA bi-monthly newsletter for members, is at the Printers. Apart from the normal array of interesting articles it has important information about membership renewals and the AGM. Hopefully Australia Post can get in into your letterbox later on next week.

02.01.2022 Even grumpy old men can look ok on a good boat, Molly Ellen stopping off at the Coorong Cafe for fish and chips

01.01.2022 To all WBASA Members After some deliberation between The WBASA President Barry Johnson, Anne Potter (event coordinator) and I (Classic Thursday coordinator) we have decided that it is in everybody’s best interest to postpone Jim’s Run which was planned for next Thursday, the 26th of November. Whilst the current lockdown concludes before this date the Govt is indicating that restrictions will be ‘eased’ rather than being lifted entirely. With that background I am sure everybo...dy would understand the many considerations behind this decision to postpone now. It is our intention to hold Jim’s Run next March, on the second Thursday, the 11th. Details will be communicated to all well before that date. We apologise if this postponement has caused any inconvenience. Stay well Stephen Conway

01.01.2022 A great idea and a very picturesque piece of water way https://facebook.com/events/s/launch-of-a-virtual-cruise-por/732562417305375/?ti=icl

01.01.2022 Hi all, hopefully those members who are attending the AGM tonight have RSVP’d to Barry Johnson. Numbers are very limited due to COVID Restrictions and at this stage balcony seating is the only space available. You are able to connect via Zoom I’d that works for you. Please ring Barry if you have not yet indicated your intention to participate. Unfortunately the August Crow’s Nest has been delayed due to printing / postage and should be in your letterbox by the weeks end. Stephen Conway
