25.01.2022 A huge thank you to MASH and Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group. Woodend Neighbourhood house was successful in receiving a Community Solar grant from MASH to install a 10.23kwh Solar system to our facility in which both ourselves and Cobaw will benefit from in the years to come. These savings will allow us to support our fabulous community with new and exciting initiatives. This wouldn't have been possible without the support and guidance from Macedon Sustainability group.

24.01.2022 A fabulous day was had in the garden at Woodend Neighbourhood house. A huge thank you to the volunteers who gave up their morning to come and weed, mow and whipper snip our grounds. I think everyone will agree what a huge difference it has made. ... Also a shout out to Baker Construction Industries for also volunteering your time to come and help with clearing and mowing and helping us in making it safe for our working bee to go ahead.

23.01.2022 OILS & EMOTIONS// When I first got started with essential oils I was pretty sceptical about their emotional benefits. I knew they couple make the house smell gr...eat, help cut out toxic cleaning products and help keep us well over winter, but I had no idea there was actual science to back up their incredible emotional super powers! Let’s take a look at how it works: When we inhale an essential oil the aroma connects with our olfactory bulb and a message is sent to the limbic system which governs our mood, emotions, memory and hormones, amongst other things. Our sense of smell is 10,000 times more popular than our other senses! This is why the smell of Lynx can take you back to your High school crush, or smell a rose in bloom and you’re back in Gran’s garden as a kid. Essential oils are an incredible natural tool to help us manage stress, anxious feelings and overwhelm. They can actually remind us to take note of how we might be feeling and what we’d like to feel MORE of in our day Join me tomorrow at 2pm for a short and sharp 30 minute workshop in collaboration with Woodend Neighbourhood House . I’ll be chatting all things essential oils for emotional wellness and how to incorporate them into your daily routines. DM me or drop a comment below for the link

17.01.2022 Woodend Neighbourhood house are encouraging families to give a little this year, What is a Reverse Advent Calendar? Unlike a regular Advent Calendar where the focus is on receiving a treat every day the Reverse Advent Calendar takes the focus off receiving and places the focus on giving to others. A Reverse Advent Calendar begins as an empty box or basket. For 20 days in the lead up to Christmas you place one item (non-perishable food, toiletries, toys, books or Christmas ...treat) into the box. After 20 days your filled Reverse Advent Calendar is dropped off to Woodend Neighbourhood house where it will be forwarded to people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity and hardship. This year more than ever we need to dig deep and give a little Christmas spirit to everyone. For more information or for a box or gift bag contact the house If we could have all boxes / bags returned to the house by 21st of December or earlier if possible. You can start as soon as you like and is a great way your children can be involved, involve them in choosing the gifts and ideas.

15.01.2022 Family violence is a social issue that has worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Preventing family violence is a shared responsibility across the community. We... all have a role to play in modelling healthy respectful behaviour and challenging disrespectful behaviour, to stop violence before it starts. If you live or work in Romsey or Lancefield, you are invited to participate in the Lancefield and Romsey Stand Together Campaign. Send us a photo of yourself holding a sign pledging what you stand for or what you will do when it comes to making your community a safe, respectful and supportive place to live. The campaign photos will be compiled into a community portrait, shared on social media and in the local paper and displayed in a roving exhibition in Romsey and Lancefield. Send your photos to [email protected]

08.01.2022 For the past ten years the Macedon Ranges Gift Shop, (formerly the Macedon Ranges Toy Shop) has provided families of the Macedon Ranges gifts for their children... at Christmas. This year is different. Due to the current COVID-19 landscape and the challenges it brings, it will mean that the Gift Shop will not ‘open’ for business as usual in 2020. Instead, the Macedon Ranges Gift Shop will be running a gift card system. This system will enable us to support both our local families and local businesses across the Macedon Ranges Shire. Find out how to register as a family, get involved as a business or donate at Macedon Ranges Gift Shop.
