23.01.2022 Members of the Woodend Men’s Shed, after considering current circumstances and the health and safety of Shed members, Bupa residents and the community at large, decided that The Men’s Shed would close from the 16th March until further notice. The matter will be reviewed by the Shed Committee and members on the 6th April. We regret any inconvenience but believe that this action is in the best interests of all. Paul Newman President

22.01.2022 Our members have been very busy creating these masterpieces while the shed has been closed. In the short period between COVID19 lock downs we managed to move premises to the Old Mill and are trying to raise money to pay for the rent. 20.01.2022 Discarded cast iron seat and table ends are sourced from Woodend and surrounding Transfer Stations. All ends are of different sizes, styles and weight with all pieces carefully sanded to remove rust and flaking paint, they are then spray painted to bring them back to new. Merbau timber, which is 100% sourced from well managed forests and pre stained with a Feast Watson outdoor timber stain is then combined with either zinc or galvanised hardware for the assembly process. 06.01.2022 Recent fires across the country have generated a flurry of activity at the Woodend Mens Shed.The wholesale destruction of vast tracts of native forest has created intense competition for nesting hollows among small marsupials and birds. To help overcome this shortage the Woodend Mens Shed is constructing nesting boxes and feeding stations from recycled and donated materials. These will be distributed across the fire ravaged areas. 03.01.2022 Since the inception of a Repair Cafe in Woodend a little over 12 months ago the Woodend Mens Shed has been on hand to offer repair and "make and mend" services for those cherished household items that have broken or become a bit wobbly. Retro and heirloom chairs, tables, dolls, handbags, shoes, and prams have all been the beneficiaries of a revamp by the team that has extended their useful life for further generations!
